Top 10 Albums of 2014. In no particular order, except for Royal Blood. #1 in a landslide.
RANDOM START: NOFX 'Champs Elysees'
Just in case you didn't think these were random.
I remember going with a buddy to Music Trader in San Diego to buy this the day it came out in '97. Also the last NOFX record I bought.
(Not So) RANDOM START - I'll be listening to this non-stop for the indeterminable future.
RANDOM START: Russian Circles 'Ethel'
A band that manages to be heavy, yet soothing at the same time. No small feat.
RANDOM START: Closure In Moscow 'Mauerbauertraurigkeit'
So very underrated. If you're unfamiliar with these guys, please give them a shot.
RANDOM START: Doomriders 'Gone to Hell'
Welcome to Monday morning. Love, Doomriders
RANDOM START: Japandroids 'The Nights of Wine and Roses'
RANDOM START: Weather Report "Birdland"
Man, Jaco's bass harmonics FTW.
RANDOM START: Balance and Composure 'Separation'
I'm bad at music-ing. I definitely don't listen to this band enough.
RANDOM START: Mastodon 'The Motherload'
The heavy riffs. The vocal melodies. What a combination. What a record.
RANDOM START: Lagwagon 'Duh'
My intro to punk was repeated listenings of this and Propagandhi's "How To Clean Everything."
RANDOM START: Wayne Shorter 'Footprints'
From '100 Best of Blue Note.' Worth picking up.
RANDOM START: '68 'Track 10 .'
Such a great record. So raw and intense. No production tricks here, folks.
RANDOM START: Shy Girls 'Without'
If you're trying to set the mood at your desk, here you go.
RANDOM START: Nothing 'Hymn to the Pillory'
RS with a nice reminder that I need to listen to this album more.
RANDOM START: MR LITTLE JEANS 'THE SUBURBS'
You can't do better than the original, but nonetheless, a really great cover.
RANDOM START: Thrice 'In Exile'
Best song Thrice ever wrote, IMO. Near perfection.
