Missing Asks!
I FOUND IT! I FOUND THE ANSWER!
Okay, maybe not the final answer, but part of the problem! Asks keep getting eaten. Which is a big problem when you’re doing something anon and don’t want to ask the person “did you get it”?
If the ask contains an ellipsis without a trailing space, it gets eaten. It says delivered, but it goes nowhere.
So “Well… then” will get delivered but “Well…then” won’t!
Hopefully this helps in getting your asks actually delivered.
Post I made for my RP account, but very relevant elsewhere.
After discovering this, I tested it. Five different accounts between two people, anon vs not. No matter what, without fail, if the trailing space was missing, the message was not delivered.
I contacted Tumblr staff. They were already fully aware this was happening, but it is not documented anywhere. Nor do they seem keen on giving their users a warning about it in any fashion.
Help me spread the word because the staff won’t!
WHAT EVEN THE HELL
This has been a big problem on this blog. So anyone who wants to submit letters, always make sure you put a space after an elipses, "So on... and so forth," as opposed to, "So on...and so forth," to keep your letters from being eaten. I had eleven eaten in one day alone, recently.
If it still doesn't look like I'm getting your submissions, try submitting again with your entire letter in the title of the submission. It's always the content that gets eaten, not the title. And even further after that, start sending me asks with your letters, if you're STILL worried. It's best to do this nonanonymously too, that way you can ask, and I can look for your username and see if I have your letter in my pile of awaiting letters!
Attention:
If you're the person who just sent me eleven letters, none of them have gone through except for the titles, and you're anonymous.
If you want to try again, try sending them via the ask box instead of the submission box, or submit the letters in the title only. That should clear up the problems.
