Tohoku Emotion

Tohoku Emotion is a Joyful Train owned by JR East, starting operation in 2013. It made up of 3 Kiha 110 series 700 cars (a diesel train). It operates in the Tohoku region running between Kuji in the Iwate prefecture to Hachinohe in the Aomori Prefecture.

This train is focused on a dining experience! Car 1 are private dining rooms, Car 2 is the open kitchen, and Car 3 is the dining room. The route follows the Sanriku Coast so you may have a great view of the ocean while you dine. Both the exterior and interior design incorporate characteristics from the Tohoku region! Such the back wall of the open kitchen decorated with traditional embroidery from Aomori (Kogin-Zashi) or using Amber lighting in the dining room (Amber being a specialty product for Kuji)

The menu changes every 3 months. The outbound journey (Hachinohe->Kuji) includes the lunch course. It starts with a welcome drink, sparkling apple cider made from apples from the Aomori prefecture (a region known for it's apples, drinks are free flowing throughout the ride until supplies run out) and appetizers (served in a wooden bento box like the one in the drawing), which is then followed by the main course. The Appetizers and main course depends on the current season and menu. The inbound journey (Kuji->Hachinohe) is a dessert buffet, which is also subject to change every 3 months

I was stuck by the of the exterior style of the train, so I tried to emulate it in a drawing. A bit experimental. Thanks for reading! ✌
