A wide smile is plastered on her face. Her eyes are beaming with so much happiness as the penguins the she loves so much walks just few meters away from us—enjoying themselves in the water, not caring for the audience that are here to see them. Their aquarium date was nothing romantic nor extravagant. But it shows clearly on her face how much she is enjoying it. So much that she had forgotten that he was with her. He's fine with it, though. There was nothing more uplifting than seeing her beaming with happiness. At this moment, all he could think of is how beautiful she is and how lucky he is to have her. He felt it, in his chest. The one question he thought he would carefully have planned out. But alas! There is no right moment for it. He would probably explode if he didn't let it out.
He called her name. It took her two seconds to look back at him as she was busy waving the penguins. "I know the timing and setting might be a little inappropriate—"
"What is it?" she asked, her brows furrowed.
"I just need to let this shit out. I don't have a ring with me but, will you marry me?" he finally blurted out. As those last four words escaped his mouth, his chest burst with fear.
He planned a lot of times how he would propose to her. He had plotted different kinds of proposal. He had imagined the conversations that he will have with her parents, asking them to marry their daughter. In one of his imaginations, he had asked her in Tokyo Disneyland because he knew how much she wants to visit there. He would conspire with some Disney characters to get her attention and he would wear Mickey Mouse's mascot and have a dance with her. When the right song comes, he would remove the mascot's head and kneel down, show her the ring and asked her to marry him. And of course, in his imagination, she said yes. She had said yes to those questions in a lot of different scenarios he made up in his mind. And god, he hopes she says yes because otherwise he would be the most pathetic boyfriend to ever propose. Although he's already as pathetic to propose without a ring.
"Are you for real?" she finally spoke after a good five seconds of having her mouth and eyes wide open from shock.
"Yes, and your answer?" It was a spur of moment. He was too caught up with watching her. But he knew all to well that he is also determined.
"I mean, I would, yes, I will marry you but god," she chuckled, both embarassed and giddy at his sudded proposal.
"Good, I will buy you a substitute ring at the souvenir shop later," he pulled her close to him and hug her close to his chest as his head rests over hers. "I saw a penguin ring there that I thought you will love,"
"I will, idiot," he heard her say. He couldn't see her face but he could tell that she has that infamous wide smile of hers plastered again on her face.
"God, I love you so much. I'm glad I took you here,"
