My adoration for Lieve’tel, Cleric of the Raven Queen has no bounds, and I tip my hat to Liam O’Brien.
I love that she laughs, is downright tickled, when Scanlan uses cutting words on the Howlers in the form of fart noises.
I love that she adores Trinket from the start.
I love that she tells Bertrand Bell, “this can only end in romance, Bertrand. I’m three hundred and fifty years old, I need entertainment” just to mess with him, knowing full well that the tales of his exploits are all bullshit.
I love that she uses mostly buffs instead of combat spells, much like a certain, similarly-zen pink-furred cleric of Melora we all know and love.
I love that she tries to reach out to the people who are hurt by her queen’s champion’s passing the most, knowing full well that she’s likely to be rebuffed but does it anyways because her compassion runs almost as deep as his.
I love that when Percy reminds her that the Raven Queen owes them a debt that will take centuries to fill, she doesn’t flinch. I love that when Keyleth lashes out at her in her rage and grief, she allows Keyleth to say her piece without comment or grudge. I love that when Vex curls inward at each reminder the loss of her twin, she tries to remind Vex of how loved she was by her goddess’ champion, and provides protection and blessing on his behalf.
I love that she sacrificed her life to save a fallen member of Vox Machina, not knowing of their success until after they’ve brought her body back to Vasselheim and revived her.
Do you think she dared to hope that she would be revived? Or did she accept her fate as the will of the Raven Queen?
Do you think Grog carried her body back himself, seeing the price she paid for his foolishness? Or did Bertrand Bell carry her, trying not to think of all the meanings of the word volunteer as he walked? Perhaps they arranged her over Trinket’s back instead, tying her limp form much more kindly and securely than they did their two-hundred-odd-hit-points unconscious friend earlier.
Do you think Lieve ever knew Syldor? Do you think she ever walked the furthest reaches of the Feywild? What adventures has she been on? Who has she loved? Who has she lost? How did she become a cleric for the goddess of death?
