and suddenly, Erika could hear that one, character identifying laugh. â iihihihihihihihihiiiiiiiiii⊠â
"....."
That's interesting, the wind suddenly reminds her of a highly irritating sound. Certainly, it's only the wind.

Looking over to see it was actually a girl who had hugged him from behind. At least it seems he didnât harm her. âA-Ah⊠Iâm sorry⊠I was just not expecting a hug⊠Iâm really really sorry missâŠâ
... really, how did people deal with children? Their temperament could change so quickly-- though, glancing down at the apologetic youth, Erika supposed there would be nothing to gain from reprimanding him. Said as though she wasn't the one to startle him in the first place. Her mood was somewhat lifted thanks to the grey blob's threat no longer being held over her head -- thus, she flashed the boy a genial, if not entirely genuine, smile.
"No harm was done -- and your assistance has aided me greatly." And with a somewhat awkward pat to the top of his head, the detective was off to make the most of the remaining day.
For the time being, I'm just going to focus on Meme Tuesday stuff and complete the rest of Erika's drafts either later this evening or tomorrow. In my drafts right now, there's--
Anastasia
Battler
Bakura
but if I owe you a reply I've missed, just send me an ask!
አtea and two sugars [closed; Beato]
Take tea with the Golden Witch-- that had been the strange grey blob's dare. After encountering a certain other game master, the detective wasn't completely surprised to learn that other players from the Rokkenjima board were also in this city... although, considering the terms the two had parted on, one would perhaps be surprised at how readily Erika had accepted the dare. Dying and having her very existence negated was... hardly pleasant. However, in her very short time as Beatrice's opponent, the detective had-- well, simply put, she had learned quite a lot. Enough to respect the witch a great deal, even if they would never be on the same side.
At this point in time, however, she wasn't approaching her as an enemy. A simple invitation to tea was all that was called for and that was all that had been delivered. It had been a simple matter to find Beatrice's current address, a short trip to the bulletin board she had been directed to upon arrival yielding the desired results: Beatrice the Golden, apt. O-6. A simple note was then delivered to that address, requesting the Witch's presence at a small tea room the detective had located in sector four. Hardly extravagant, but more than enough to meet the criteria of the dare.
Now seated near the large window, it was simply a matter of waiting for her guest. If she bothered to show up at all... although, Erika had the distinct impression that she would come. And thus, the detective waited.
Two birds with one... hug?
He wasnât quite sure how to go about it, and he guessed it wouldnât really matter either way. The girl counted as a stranger and from the rumors he had heard going around, it seemed she was being assaulted by the hug anon too. So why not kill two birds with one stone was what he thought. However it didnât make the situation any less awkward⊠A deep breath, a strong determination and a rather red face he stepped forward and approached the girl in question⊠lets hope he wasnât attacked for this. âI uh⊠heard from the birds around here youâre being forced to hug someone.â âWell I⊠Iâve been dared to hug people too. So I was thinking well⊠maybe we could kill two birds with one stone and er⊠wellâŠâ Johan was beginning to feel like running, could it be he was chickening out? He was never good with the whole conversation bit in the first place, it only made it worse now that he had to ask to hug someone. It seemed she had to hug someone too, so it just seemed easier for the two of them. Or at least he thought it would be easier.
In the meantime, Erika was wisely spending her time... silently cursing her anonymous rival. To someone who was used to the cruelty and whims of witches, this matter was closer to an annoyance rather than anything hurtful -- still, the detective didn't take kindly to this kind of disturbance. Although, by the sound of things, these kinds of disruptions weren't unusual...
Her thoughts were interrupted by the approach of a strange young man -- his look of complete determination was what registered with her first and foremost, listening to what he had to say even as he fumbled over his choice of words.
"-- hug eachother?" She finished for him, nodding slightly. It was a logical idea, although she questioned how quickly information circulated in this city. Still, if she could get at least one part of this idiotic dare over with easily, it was a worthwhile exchange. She really didn't want to be a kitten for any length of time, thank you very much.
"Alright--" Erika responded, facing the other and restraining the grimace that threatened to surface on her features. This was the quickest way to go about things, as much as she wasn't especially ecstatic about letting anyone into her personal space, "whenever you're ready."
Like hell she'd initiate things.

⊠.. ANYTHING
levelofreason started following you
âWhat I can offer youâŠ?â The ancient spiritâs smile morphed into a slight grin. Aside from the useless wooden knives, at least he retained one power the Ring gave him.
âI can grant you⊠the ability to seal a soul into an inanimate object. Unfortunately, this dreadful city has shortened it to ten minutes for once a day. But⊠if you need an alibi, I can disguise myself as my weak host and make one up for you.â
He had to admit, he had jumped into the alliance offer a little too headstrong. The last alliance he had entered got himself burnt into ashes with no payment of the other party. And there was no telling if Erika would fail to keep her end of their alliance up. Even so, it still seemed to have a sense of intelligence.
âCall it idiocy or bravery. I have annoyances that keep me from accomplishing my plan. And you seem clever enough toâŠ. letâs say⊠drive them into a corner and mentally scar them for life.â I think heâs suggesting intellectual rape
To seal souls..? A unique ability, certainly, although the duration seemed rather lacking. That was this city's doing, hm? At least she had some confirmation for her theory that, along with weapons, any powers held by participants were either taken or severely weakened. Where did that leave her? Did she have her detective's authority? Or..? This was a matter for further investigation, although it was a better idea to deal with the matter at hand first.
"Hoh, as interesting an ability as that is, what good will souls so me? As for an alibi-- the detective is never the culprit, Knox's 7th," just because she was uncertain over retaining her detective's authority didn't mean she would admit it freely. His words did manage to bring a smile to her face... amused, rather than the polite one employed when talking with most inhabitants of this city.
"But isn't bravery simply a word used by idiots to justify their actions?" Erika giggled lightly, clapping her hands once, "While I should commend you for recognising someone of great intelligence, this would seem to be a one-sided alliance this far -- if I had any intention of forming one."
"What I require, more than anything else at this moment in time, is information on this game board and it's masters."
Hmm, Fine. I will make it more clear then. You will now hug this man, then you will hug one more. If not I shall take a way your headpiece for a week and turn you into kitten for two days. It might be cheap, but it is I, I am the all knowing anon.
A cheap, third-rate setup. Erika was not pleased in the slightest. She had no particular attachment to the headpiece that came with her borrowed clothing, but the kitten threat was still highly undesirable.
"Hardly all knowing when you can't keep track of your own words -- however, I'll agree to this third-rate trick of yours if only to be rid of you, insufferable piece."
Anon said two, other wise Kitten plan will commence, my dear.
"Au contraire, my grey rival."
"In your earlier message, two was the operative number, yes. However, in your previous message, and I quote: I dare you to hug a man. One you have not met before and that is here right now."
An indulgent smile, "A man, in the singular. Therefore, it would be a rather cheap idea to go back on your own arrangement, wouldn't it?"
Hug or kitten. That is all I demand. Now you try to discuss it, I dare you to hug a man. One you have not met before and that is here right now. That way you shan't be able to say the person was just not here. I have eyes everywhere. Also, I love the music on your blog, very royal. Yes.
This situation was becoming akin to digging herself a nice pit with every passing message. This cruelty was no match for her master, but still--
"Fine! If you truly desire for me to engage in such a meaningless action, then I will do so." Anything to get this pest out of her hair.
although, should she become a kitten at any point, her claws had this anon's name all over them -- regardless of how many eyes they had.
Let me rephrase it then. You either hug two complete strangers or you will turn in to a kitten for twenty four hours. Also there is something gained from this action, as you will learn the identity of new people and then perhaps find out new mysteries to solve. ~Signed by your personal rival anon.
Urk--!
Being a kitten for any length of time was hardly high on her list of wants -- and certainly not a position she wanted to place herself in the midst of a still alien environment. Knowing the whims of those with magic, she hardly doubted the threat...
"Surely talking with these people would yield better results? Anyone who wishes to call themselves my rival should know at least that much."
HUG A COMPLETE STRANGER YOU HAVE NOT MET BEFORE!
"I decline. There is nothing to gain from such a useless action."
