“Yeah I think so,” Levi nodded, “And maybe they had called someone for help, or maybe there was another good Samaritan following behind that they trusted enough to get into a car with because the only possible sign of a struggle was the phone, but that easily could have been an accident,” he shrugged, “Plus with that article about the Jukes, my gut thinks that maybe it was Jerry’s wife now? The two of them are working this together.”

“Well, no one here is going to ask you to work for free.” Not completely anyway, he was on the payroll after all. “Something tells me the police aren’t being as helpful as they could be.”  If the phone’s data hadn’t already been pulled when the police were in possession of the phone, it didn’t give her much hope that they were all that interested in solving the case. Not a great feeling to have. “The only person around here who I think wants us to solve this, is Trip’s mother since she’s the one who hired us.” 

“Yeah, I already have someone trying to get me to hack into the bank and get into Kady’s family financials, which while would be interesting, if you’re not even going to try and get me a promise you’ll handle my legal fees, I’m really not even interested,” Levi pointed out, “Well, police in these kinds of towns are overworked, and if there’s something shady going on behind the scenes they could easily be covering up something. I’m still not convinced there’s no secret human trafficking ring.”

“The curved bullet…that’s right.” As far as conspiracies went, political ones didn’t always strike Effie’s fancy but that would be a good one. “I wonder how much they have hidden away about assassinations. Wouldn’t it be incredible if we got the opportunity to even try to figure it out?” She had a feeling all of those questions would remain unanswered for years though. “All those coverups…I’d love to take a stab at them.”

“I think at this point most of the government cover ups have been exposed,” Levi shrugged, “because no matter how many times they try they never actually do a good job at it? It’s actually pretty sad.”

Moments never really changed the bigger picture. “Seeing things fuck up is funny. They get to see us all fight, cry, complain,” he was imagining the behind the scenes show reel and it was amazing. “I’d watch it.”

“It takes one to know one, I guess,” Levi deadpanned, before rolling his eyes, “Maybe, or maybe they legitimately thought that we would all be good at our jobs, because how would they have figured out anything about my personal life anyway? It’s not like I talked about it in my interviews. And unless you gave it to them, they definitely haven’t seen my social media.” Not that he actually put anything remotely interesting on his social media anyway.

“I’m an aficionado masking for producer and presenter, or something of the sort.” Jazz almost laughed at the turn of conversation, choosing to just go along with it all. “I’m guessing you’ve got something to do with making sure we don’t do stupid things on our computers?”

“Tech support, so basically yes that,” Levi laughed, “I’m just hoping that you all have the common sense that I won’t actually have to do much in fixing stupid things on your computers. There’s enough we have to do in making sure everything else is set up and working properly.”

“same to you,” she responds with a nod, before shifting in her seat, leaning a bit closer to the other. “so,” annie begins, an eyebrow raised in interest. “what’re your theories on this whole thing?” he didn’t seem the type to jump to the conclusion that it was aliens, but then again, people had surprised her before.

“Carbon monoxide poisoning accounting for the bus serving and the memory loss, that aggravated Kady’s neurological issues so she went with the other two to get some air and away from everyone talking, someone called for help, and the three of them were taken by an underground human trafficking ring,” Levi said, “it’s probably too late to have the bus checked out, but it’s still where my mind is.”

finn nodded his head. tech had never been an interest of his, in fact he kind of steered clear of it other than basic use. “forensic tech sounds like it would be cool, but i don’t really know much about any of that so maybe not.” he shrugged. “if anything we solve ends up actually being a cryptid with proof i’ll gladly admit i’m wrong, but i doubt that’ll happen.”

“It’s definitely cool but it’s insanely time consuming. Not to mention the equipment needed for it is so much more expensive and giant than TV makes it out to be,” Levi said, “I also doubt it’s going to happen. We might be the only two who don’t believe in cryptids at the moment.”

“you gotta go for what you want, levi. don’t give the people the chance to back out,” dylan was good at strong arming people, pushing things on them that they perhaps didn’t really agree on. she seemed to steam roll without even trying but she was actually trying to help levi out. “it’s all about risk and reward. you promise some director type a big reward and the risk of investing in what you need seems worth it for the pay off.”

“But the problem here is this is more about what you want, I’m just happy to work within the parameters of my job,” Levi pointed out, “So maybe you should take your own advice and then get back to me on it. Because I’m not risking my job over trying to illegally get my hands on someone else’s financials.”

“I don’t think that I ever felt guilty with my sister, it more just was like I was forced to take her place and I was angry about that. Still am actually,” Levi sighed. There were days that he thought that his sister was dead, others where he thought she had just left and started a new life somewhere away from her golden child expectations. It’d be easier if he had any ideas, but he had none. And that was what hurt the most. “Drinking. A lot. And my parents know nothing about my actual life, I keep golden child Levi and actual Levi separate. Which I try not to talk about much.”

if it was up to dylan then they’d probably be doing all kinds of illegal shit. it was lucky for the directors that she wasn’t some tech savvy hacker because she’d definitely be getting her nose in places that it didn’t belong, instead she just poked around with people. “dude, i haven’t got that kind of leverage, i usually just write about people who do wrong and dig up dirt. financials are not my forte,” unless saving money for travelling counted. “you should write to the big man in charge. formal request to make the show kickass.”

“Well then sorry,” Levi shrugged before laughing, “That’s a joke right? IT is always at the bottom of the “care about” pile despite us literally holding shit like this together. Nobody would listen to me.”

“Oh, interesting,” Levi nodded, though truthfully he wasn’t really sure that he believed that she was really a psychic. Or that anyone who claimed that they were actually could. It was something that he just could never wrap his head around because it sounded entirely too fictional. “I’m Levi, it’s nice to meet you.”

“Yeah salt’s an essential. I haven’t actually gotten most of my groceries yet because I’m trying to figure out where to store it all in my trailer. And properly cook in there, I was hoping they’d be somewhat bigger,” Levi admitted, “I hope they do. And also hope they don’t share it with me because I really don’t want to know.”

“I’ve got a theory about why they invited us all here…” He actually did although it wasn’t one he was publishing on his blog with suggestive titling. He meets the mans gaze, dark eyes holding a certain level of seriousness that would pass away within seconds. “They just invited the most fucked up people here to see who’d get the most triggered. Or maybe it’s a universal coincidence, a touch of fate; damage attracts damage,” he muses dryly, no sarcasm, not a dent in his armour about realising what his life had amounted to in the end. It was almost over according to his prophecies of his death date. 

“Hey, I’m not that fucked up, so looks like my existence might have blown a hole in that theory,” Levi said, a little defensive - despite the fact that Mx definitely knew him too well to know that Levi was lying. Though part of him wondered if the other even really remembered, “But why would they want to make it a shit show like that when they’re trying to make a television show?”
