Long time no update!

I had more surgery!! Surgery on surgery for this dude.

Panniculectomy and circumferential lipectomy (body lift) on 8/21/2019. The surgeon removed 15 pounds of skin and stuff from my belly. Now belly is no more (ish).

Recovery has been up and down. I can’t take ibuprofen, so it’s seemed like oxy or nothing almost. Tried some different CBD capsules and drops, but felt more high than pain relieved. Hopefully my drains (I have 4) will be removed within the next week or so. Classes started last week, and I had to be FaceTimed in. It doesn’t look likely/smart that I should try to go to classes this week either (they’re 2.5 hours long each).

Excited to have these drains out and be back to sleeping on my side!!!! Until my next surgery.

Reached goal weight

I am now under my goal weight of 215. Weigh in today was 212.6. My BMI is officially “Overweight” instead of “Obese”. Lots to wrap my mind around. I set my next goal weight as 200. Let’s see how I feel once I get to that!

Weight loss: nearly 130 pounds

Hard to wrap my head around this one still. My goal weight to get to is 215, since that’s around the BMI I can get a consult with a plastic surgeon for excess skin removal. It’s coming much more quickly than I thought... although maintaining at a certain weight will probably still be a requirement. I’ve no idea an ultimate goal weight for me. Still figuring that out I guess!

Officially have lost 101 pounds!

Officially on to the mushy/soft food phase!! I’m so happy to be done with the full liquid phase. I was getting tired of jell-o...

The first thing I’ve tried is a few small bites of tuna. So far so good! I did burp and I remember reading that some people burp when they’re full, so I stopped just in case. I want to go out and buy some eggs to try scrambled eggs, and some cottage cheese because I don’t like not being able to drink while eating and that seems like it’ll help.

Any mushy/soft food recipe suggestions? Let me know!

Two week post-op update

Today marks my two weeks since surgery on February 12. This morning I weighed 325.8, which means I’ve lost 24.2 pounds in the past two weeks. That’s nearly 25 pounds!! In two weeks!!! I can definitely understand where people are coming from when they say it’s hard for their mind to catch up to their body. Excited to continue this journey and see what’s in store!

Hokay. This blog REALLY hasn’t been updated. And I’ve got some BIG (pun intended) updates. -I injured my back and found out the last three discs in it are/were essentially crushing down, which was causing my back to spasm painfully. Due to this, I’ve gained a lot of weight since December 2016. I did a month of physical therapy in June 2017, which helped tremendously. But then... -In July 2017, I moved to Kentucky for work. On the orientation day, I super sprained my ankle. I was unable to rest enough to let it properly heal since I had just started a new job, so my mobility went way down. This also meant I couldn’t do my physical therapy exercises, so I started having back issues again. -I decided it was finally time to look into weight loss surgery. Luckily, my new employer’s Insurance covered it. I had to meet with a doctor every month consecutively for 6 months to get approval for the gastric sleeve surgery. The doctor was pretty transphobic and shitty, but a means to an end. -So, I will now attempt to track my progress with surgery and health through this blog. Since the surgery is a tool that really helps people like me get healthy again, I have more confidence in my ability to keep updated on this. Stats so far... Highest weight: 361 Surgery weight (2/12/18): 350 Current weight (2/18/18): 338 First goal weight: Under 300 I have lost 23 pounds total from my highest weight, and 12 since surgery. Since I’ve been obese my entire adult life, I’m really not sure what my ultimate goal weight is. The BMI says I should be around 180, which is hard to imagine considering I was 192 in sixth grade. My plan is to weigh myself weekly on Monday mornings and do monthly progress pics. I am excited for this journey! Please feel free to reach out with questions, suggestions, support! So, haven't updated this in ages. Recap: Moved to Ohio last summer. Lost about 15 pounds. Gained that back plus some. Have lost 1 pound this past week. Goal is to get under 300 by July 1st. Here we go! Committed to drinking at least 64 oz of water a day, ideally 128 oz (or a gallon) a day. Trying to stick to tea+shakes, the salad bar at the dining hall (including hard boiled eggs), and nutribullet smoothies. It seems I need to try to go back to all or nothing because once I eat outside of this, it's so easy to slide right back into old habits. Exercise isn't possible with my back right now until I go to physical therapy and learn which exercises are safe. Waiting on that referral phone call.

I've gained back almost half of the weight I've lost since October. Tomorrow I'm going back on the shakes and to the gym. I hate feeling disgusting, out of breath, and uncomfortable nearly all the time.

It's been a while. I had to quit the weight management program the first week of February due to financial reasons. Since then I've gained back around 15 pounds due to severe stress and depression. I'm trying to get back on track, but it's been rough. I have an important interview on May 2nd, and I even got fitted for a suit today for it. I vowed to my roommate it'll be my first and last fat suit. The final fitting is on April 27th in case they need to do any additional alterations before I leave on the 30th. So I have 10 days to lose as much weight as I can to feel more comfortable in the awesome shirt we chose. My goal is to lose at least 10 pounds, and I'd be ecstatic about 15 but I know that's pushing it. Tomorrow I'll go back to the gym and work out every day until the fitting. Here we go!!!

Next week is the halfway point of the weight management program. I am rededicating myself to improve my health by drinking at least 64 oz of water daily, strictly stick to the program plan (5 shakes a day), and exercise at least 5-6 days a week (to reach minimum of 300 minutes of physical activity a week). This will help me reach my goal of 75 pounds lost by March 31st (or first week of April, depending on if we have to extend the class). 33 pounds to go... And maybe I could even exceed that if I stay focused.

The home scale was off by 3 pounds but I'm cool with it. That means I lost whatever I gained in the last week of 2015, plus one pound! Now I gotta get back on track, especially with physical activity. 42 pounds overall lost so far

The scale at home this morning said I've lost 45 pounds at this point! I'll find out tomorrow in class if that's accurate (we go off that scale). If it's true, then I am only 4 pounds away from my first major goal!

I've officially lost 40 pounds! 9 pounds away from my goal. That should be reached the first week of January. :)

So far I’ve lost 30 pounds. My goal is to lose at least 19 more by December 31st. The gym game will definitely have to step up!
