Almost a Week on Italy Part 1 : Rome & Vatican
Early April I got a trip to Italy. Another appreciation trip from SCTV.
It is start with a surprising email from my COO. She offered me to go Italy, the email not only addressed to me but also other invitee. I’m the little one there. That’s why I’m gladly shaken at that time. I don’t want to hesitate to answer yes, then I ask my team and my supervisor they agreed, so i reply the email and say “YES, I WOULD LIKE TO”
This is my first Schengen Visa, and hopefully won’t be the last, ameen ya Allah :
I arrived at Rome through Leonardo Da Vinci Airport around 4 pm on 3rd of April, then we straight headed to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Step.
Here’s some picture from Airport to heart of the city Rome :
Unfortunately Trevi Fountain was being renovated so i couldn’t throw any coin :(
Trevi Fountain is the biggest Fountain in Rome which built in 15th Century. The legend says that if you throw a coin into the Trevi, with your back to the fountain, throwing the coin with your right hand over your left shoulder, that will ensure a return to Rome.
And here’s a Spanish step, I expect something more than just a stairway but unfortunately it is just stairway that full of people :p
Area around Spanish Step called Piazza di Spagna, am not sure but supposed to be related with Spanish something (ha ha, pardon my ignorance). And they have little fountain which called Fontana della Barcaccia means Fountain of the ugly boat:
After thar we went to Thai Restaurant which I forgot the name. Along the way, I enjoy the city view. The building were look alike with ivory-ish color.
Here’s some spots I can capture :
When I ate on Thai restaurant I found this Bloody Orange, it is said this Orange can be found in Mediterranean Country, it is sweet, sour and fresh.
We started the day with breakfast at Hotel Holiday Inn Rome then we went to Colloseum.
In this area there’s a lot thing we can explore. But unfortunately what we did is only take a picture in front of Colloseum and Arch of Constantine.
Left side of the Arch of Constantine you can found Roman Forum. You can pay a tour and visit a Roman Forum which is surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city of Rome.
Sneak peek for Roman Forum :
After took a picture in front of Colloseum, we headed to Vatican. Here some spots that I captured along the way to Vatican :
Mussolini delivered all his most important speeches, including the declaration of the Italian empire in May 1936, from its balcony in the center of the picture below. This photo taken from the bus so I coudn’t make it closer :p
We want to entered St Peter Basilica, but the queue line is very long and we couldn’t make it. It is near Easter so they close early at 11.30 am.
We walk to bus parking area through the tunnel :
After Vatican, we back to Rome for lunch at La Carovana, Chicken and potatoes Herbs, i often made that look alike and I like the taste :D Tutto Bono (=yummy in Italian)
This is the restaurant for Lunch, nice place :
After lunch we went to Castelo Romano area for shopping and back at night for Dinner in All You Can It Restaurant then when back to Hotel.
Well, I’m glad to see these cities but I feel is it not enough. Since I am in tour package I do not expect much, this is great already. And I’m so grateful :)
