I honestly don’t know what tax benefits means,” Peter shook his head with a laugh. “Because, you know, I didn’t finish high school, and I’m sure that was taught in economics or something…” When asked about his deal, Peter shrugged, “I figured that we’ve been best friends long enough, if the going got tough, we’d marry each other for retirement just to say we did it. But, she’s too good. Anyone would want to marry her.”

“I have a conspiracy that no one really knows how taxes work. We all just fill out the forms and pretend.” he chuckled “And don’t worry, we didn’t learn about it in school, either.” Curly nodded “Tina will probably find someone. But I think you will too. I don’t think you need to worry about a deal with anyone.”

“I went in the day after it happened… He kind of looked… I can’t even say it. But, I just can’t believe it happened to him of all people. Don’t tell Pan, but growing up, I kind of admired him,” she admitted with a heavy smile. Then, at the implication that she would kill herself from stress, she gave him a look, “You don’t want a zombie veterinarian?”

“You’re secret is safe with me.” he fake sealed his lips “And no, I don’t want a zombie vet.” he chuckled “The dogs would probably think you were dinner if you walked in with all that rotting flesh. More importantly, we don’t nee a zombie Fawn. You have to take care of yourself”

Tim hadn’t had a good look at the guy, but when he heard the old nickname he took a better look. “Yeah it’s me.  Curly?” He asked, wondering if it could really be the same guy. “Oh um the show I was working on closed and I wanted to take a bit of a break before starting anything else. A few days? Maybe a week. Yes I’ve actually visited him.” He said, nodding. Tim hugged him back. “Yeah thanks man. It’s been a long time. What are you up to these days?” He asked. 

“Oh good, he was probably happy to see you, yeah? Hopefully he’ll get out while you’re still here and we can get the gang all together.” He put his hands in his pockets as the hug broke apart, the next question bringing a tinge of shame. “Oh, nothing much. I’m a car salesman.I live with Nibs. Nothing too exciting.”

Anna simply lifted her brows in agreement, reaching into her hamper to pull out a select few items. She knew that most of these clothes were Oscar’s from his various spills and accidents, and she simply chuckled. “People on TV have it easy, then. I would love to never have to take out the trash.”

“When I was little I used to imagine our lives were a tv show for someone else. Like we lived inside a tv world. That sounds weird, but I swear it made sense to my ten year old mind.” he chuckled “But then again, I still had to take out the trash.”

“It’s good to know he’s stable. I haven’t been to see him in a couple of days. Usually, he’s asleep and… Ghost-like when I get there,” Fawn mumbled, splashing her feet in the water briefly to try and ease that nervous feeling. “You know me; once I’m dedicated to something, I’m finishing it.”

“He’s getting better. Day by day. A lot of it is all the meds they have him on. Almost makes him seem worse than he is.” Curly nodded “Oh trust me, I know. But you also don’t have to stress yourself out over stuff like this. If you stress yourself to death, that degree will be worthless.”

“One would think, until I get laundry duty. I don’t think my sister or my brother would be willing to wash his shirts, so I just volunteer myself every single time.” Once the washer was prepped and started, Anna pulled her hair back into a loose half-up style before placing her hands on her hips. “But television has it wrong. Relationships on tv? Way more glamorous.”

He closed the lid, starting the machine and pulling himself up to sit on top of it. “I wouldn’t know.” he chuckled “But, I mean, everything is way more glamorous on tv, right? So it’s not that surprising. I never see people on tv do things like take out the trash or have plumbing issues or any of that shit.”

It had been an emotional few days, so when Peter’s eyes got watery, he felt incredibly frustrated with himself. This was Curly. Curly absolutely couldn’t see him upset. Peter instead hugged the bear closer to him and rest his cheek on its head. “And what about you? Are you the type to settle down? Or do we need some sort of agreement that if by fifty we’re not married, we marry each other for tax benefits? Feel like my deal with Tina won’t hold up.”

“Peter...” he sighed “I’ve never even dated anyone. I don’t really think I’m the type to settle down. Too...complicated.” he shrugged “BUt you never know. It could happen. I could find someone that will change all of that, but I’m not exactly boyfriend material, much less husband, y’know?” he shook his head, it was a subject he preferred not to think about “Deal with TIna? And what’s that deal?”

Timothy had checked his mail and was looking through the envelopes as he walked down the hall.  He looked up just in time to stop from running into someone.  “Sorry.  I almost didn’t see you there.” 

“Oh don’t worry abou-” he began to say, but when he looked up at the other man, he stopped “Woah...Tootles? I mean, Timothy, is that you? What happened to New York? How long have you been back?! Have you heard about Peter? Holyshit, dude! Welcome back!” he pulled him into a hug immediately.

Anna laughed softly, finishing up her task of stuffing the laundry into one of the machines. She still had another full load to do after this, which almost made her groan aloud. “This wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t live with two other people and then insist upon stealing my boyfriend’s shirts. I’ve more than doubled my task because of it.”

Curly chuckled as he shoved the last of his clothes in the machine, knowing it was likely filled too full but ignoring it as he put the detergent in and closed the lid. “But isn’t stealing your boyfriend’s shirts like...80% of the reason to have a boyfriend? At least, that’s what I gather from tv and the people I know that have boyfriends.”

He tried to contain laughter as the other offered such a sincere and heartfelt moment. Peter almost believed it, jaw dropping slightly as he listened, but the facade was cleared as his shoulder was hit. Peter scoffed and rubbed himself, “Hey, no calling the guy in the hospital an asshat, asshat. I knew what you meant, but I don’t think there’s anyone around here that could really be in love with me. Too much to put up with.”

“You are a lot to put up with. But to the right person, none of that will matter. at least, that’s what everyone always says, right?” he leaned back in his chair, cracking his neck. “Some people I feel like aren’t ever destined to settle down. I don’t necessarily get the feeling that you’re one of those people, though.”

She wrinkled her nose slightly as he mentioned the split wasn’t good. Honestly, Timothy was one of her favorites, and to hear he was doing well on off-Broadway through a third party made her proud. But, if something happened between him and Peter, she knew the other lost boys would cut him off. She also rolled her eyes at the Vidia comment. “Yeah, okay. Well, I think she’s changed,” she was her fitness instructor now after all. “Oh, you know, came here to swim laps and enjoy the quiet. It’s been really stressful dog-sitting and going to the hospital to Tina sit, and… Continuing classes.”

“Yeah the whole Peter situation has been stressful. I want to help but I also know now that he’s stable it’s better to give him some space, too. I don’t want to smother him.” he shrugged “You’re still taking classes? Even over the summer?”

Nothing special to see here. Just another night of Curly dressing up and going out to the places he assumed would be the easiest to get a lay. He would resort to whatever means necessary to fulfill his need before the night was over, but he figured he would at least start out the usual way. Besides, he didn’t want to lose his charm. The club was loud and packed, most people already drunk or otherwise when he got there. He was about to get overwhelmed by the environment and give up when he spotted the brunette. She seemed like the only legitimate target of the evening. Adjusting his shirt, he approached her “Excuse me, miss?”

“Next time they bring the pills in, I’ll just give them to you instead,” Peter winked. After all, if nothing could beat that dope, maybe Curly would take one for the team. “Wait a second, wait a second… Is that a love confession, Curls? You sayin’ you fell in love with me?”

“Hey, as long as I don’t have to drive myself home tonight I may take you up on that.” he raised a brow, only to blush at the next statement, looking away before turning back to him, an expression of faux sincerity on his face. “Peter Pan, I’ve been in love with you since the day I met you.” He held the illusion for a moment before breaking it, hitting Peter’s shoulder gently “No, you asshat. I meant platonically. Although, what do I know? Some of these people visiting you could love you the other way too.”

“Hey, if nothing had changed, you would still be rooming with Peter and Tootles… Wherever he went,” she commented. At his face, she scoffed and splashed him gently with the water. “Yes, I live with her, but that doesn’t mean you’re not invited around. She’s grown up a lot too since you last saw her, I promise.”

“Pretty sure Tootles stayed in New York when Peter came back. And I also don’t think the separation was amicable, but those are questions I don’t ask.” he chuckled as he was splashed, wiping the water off his face “She’s Vidia. No matter how much she’s grown, she can’t be too different from when I last saw her.” he spoke with a smirk. Little did Fawn know. “So, what brings you to the pool today? I was expecting it to be empty with everything going on. “

“It’s lovely to meet you as well,” she said pleasantly, moving to pull open the door of one of the machines. Anna let out a small huff at the amount in the hamper, knowing there were at the very least two articles of Ralph’s clothing within them. “And now: the impossible task.”

“Tell me about it.” he chuckled, opening the top of his machine and looking at his rogue bag of clothes. “If I could even think about holding off on this for one more day I would, but I’m down to no more underwear and in this heat going commando is absolutely not an option.” he joked, dumping his clothes into the basin.

It was always strange to see the lost boys grown up, but thankfully, she had stayed in town to see their transformations. Fawn knew that Curly went on to be a car dealer, and they talked on occasion, but to her, he would always be remembered as a pretty decent prom date. “You and Nibs live here? That’s wild… I actually room with Vidia, if you can believe that.”

“Yeah. Nibs is my roommate. So I guess not much has changed since the orphanage.” he laughed, making a face at her when she mentioned her own roommate. “You live with Vidia?! Remind me to never, ever, under any circumstances come to your apartment.”

“Like a little gremlin or a biting angry fairy,” he joked. “But, yeah, seriously, I think I learned I have more friends than I thought I did… And this hospital is super lax about reporters claiming to be friends to try and come talk to me. But, that cop out there has been pretty good about kicking them out. But… I’ve also been so doped up, I can’t tell you who’s been by.”

“Ah, that good hospital dope. Can’t beat it, am I right?” he joked, nodding “I don’t know all of them, but I can definitely tell you there’s been plenty of people around.You’re a very well loved guy, Peter.”
