Born in Liberia, the war forced my parents and I to abandon our lives in Monrovia . I remember dead bodies in plain view, cannibalism and children drugged and forced to kill. I have experienced war, not unlike many others on the West African Coast. This war began because of other countries' interest in Liberia's natural resources and resulted in tribal bloodshed. My piece is the reworked version of 'What do You Know of Pain? I' . The original acrylic on wood panel version was created for UNICEF and will be auctioned on April 29th at the UNICEF next generation art party. A portion of the proceeds of this piece will go to benefit Children for Education in Bong County-Liberia.
