Final Project
Here is my website:

Granny Smith’s
I made a website for the second option of Granny Smith’s. I made Granny Smith’s a hipster restaurant and cocktail bar that still has an old-fashioned feel.
Here is my outline:
I chose both Facebook and Instagram as my media outlets. Facebook is a good media outlet for spreading the word, especially about restaurants and their events. I chose Instagram so that the restaurant can showcase their food in an artsy manner, especially since Instagram is popular with the younger generation and foodies.

I worked on both the main page of the website, as well as the About Us page.
My demographic is mostly the younger generation of Richmonders, aka hipsters. However, it also aimed at the older crowd who remember the old diner. Their investment is to appeal to the hipster, foodie community while also appeasing the older generation.
Transmedia on the Internet
I found a website simply titled “Media Journalism.”
https://transmediajournalism.org/contexts/what-is-transmedia-storytelling/
This website has an entire section on the origins of transmedia. It discusses where the term came from as well as important people and fandoms in regards to transmedia. For example, it discusses the importance of Star Wars. The website has many other pages about transmedia.
Final Project Update
I’m going to use Wix to create the website for my project. I have used WordPress before, but I think it will be easier to use Wix to create the website I envision.
I actually found a couple of different sources which list words used by Jane Austen in her books. I will make my own list based off of the ones I found in order to make sure I’m using the right language for my characters.
I’ve also decided to use Pinterest instead of Instagram. I think making an account for Lizzy, especially, would be really interesting, and I also think it would fit with her personality. I will use Twitter as originally planned, and I will definitely use Tweet Deck.
My copy of Pride & Prejudice is at home, so I will definitely bring it to school when I come back from Thanksgiving Break. That way, I can use it as a reference to generate ideas.
Final Project
I plan on using Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen for my final project. I will mostly utilize the book, but I will also utilize the 2005 movie adaptation if I need visual representations.
I plan on creating a website as my main narrative. This website will act as a setting; whether it’s Pemberely or the Bennets’ house, I haven’t decided yet. I will create a number of personas, but will focus on Lizzy, Mr. Darcy, Jane, and Mr. Bingley. I also plan on using Twitter in order to create the personas of these characters. I think Twitter will work best for banter, since I plan on having my characters argue and banter with each other in the same way they do in Pride & Prejudice.
Maier Museum Video
Here is the link to our PSA video for the Maier:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLrVVl0OGck
We had some trouble on our first day of shooting. Our camera didn’t want to pan smoothly. We took a ton of shots, but none of them turned out quite as good as we wanted. The second time, the shots came out much better.
The process of actually making the video went smoothly. We ran into one snafu in the very beginning, when the theme decided it didn’t want to work out. After putting the shots in the order we wanted, we mostly had to work on timing the words on the screen, and making sure none of the shots were shaky. Javonta worked on the music, which ended up sounding great! It also fits really nicely with the video.
As for our actual presentation, I think it went well, also! Explaining how to use Instagram and Snapchat was probably the most challenging part, but the group before us set up a nice foundation. All in all, the project went very well.
I watched the videos on iMovie that were posted on Moodle.
As for shooting our video at the Maier, we didn’t have enough time to get all of the shots that we wanted. We will go back to the Maier sometime next week in order to get more shots. However, we were pleased overall with the shots that we did get. It was a beautiful day outside, so I hope the footage we got of the outside of the museum will end up working with our project.
RAVE Ideas
I know that PBS is definitely not student run, but PBS Online has a 2016 film festival: http://www.pbs.org/filmfestival/home/?utm_source=promourl&utm_medium=direct&utm_campaign=filmfestival_2016
Their voting took place in July and the results came in in August. PBS had online voting where people could vote through their e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter accounts. Voters were then encouraged to share that they voted on their social media accounts. PBS also had its own hashtag for the film festival, #PBSolff.
I think the hashtag idea is a good idea so that RAVE can be found more easily on social media.
I found the largest student-run film festival, called the Ivy Film Festival. It isn’t happening until April of 2017, but I like the layout of the website: http://ivyfilmfestival.org/
I think our website should definitely have different tabs at the top to click on, including submit, about, and rules/guidelines.
I also had an alternative voting idea. I like the idea of online voting, but to make the actual festival more participatory, we could give the audience clickers. After we show the best films for each category, the audience could vote for their overall favorite film.
