I would like to take this moment to remind everyone that EVERY woman you meet is someone's current or future MOTHER. Treat her with respect and like the queen she is. Ladies, remember you could be a mother someday or already are, TREAT YOURSELF with respect, so you children do not have to feel shame in themselves for the shadows of your past.

Respect comes full circle. You have to give it to receive it, you have to earn it to gain it. Love yourself and loves those around you and you won't have to worry about the welfare of the next generation.

I sincerely hate the dialogue that is going around placing blame on witnesses for “not doing anything” and face of the stabbing. People don’t know what happens behind closed doors. you can’t assume and you shouldn’t assume the worst of people because you did not see it for yourself. you are putting possible witnesses at risk by shaming them for not saying anything. you don’t know if they’re saying something, if you they are currently saying something. one of the first things they teach you in medical training is to not get involved unless you will be safe; so how can you blame them for trying to keep themselves in a situation of gang violence. Obviously this neighborhood is controlled by that gang. Obviously if they have knives they most likely have guns; and yet you’re asking these people to put their lives and rest for someone they honestly don’t know. their only job is to call the cops; our only job is to call the cops; the cops job is to do what is right and protect.

Hitting 30...

You know what's funny? 

10 years ago, I was laying in my bedroom crying because I had been kicked out of college and didn't know what to do with myself. I felt isolated and unwanted by everyone around me. Family didn't want to address it. I couldn't address it. My friends stopped contacting me. I was so lost in depression I couldn't even tell you the day of week it was. 

10 years later I am sitting here working on my second masters, texting and CALLING my friends, going out,  talking to my mum about everything, joking with my sisters.  

On my birthday, I kept annoying everyone cause I couldn't stop crying and  telling them how much I appreciated them. What they thought was obvious, was brand new to me. My road to a positive, non-toxic, environment was (is) difficult for me. But I am so glad.

10 years ago I didn't think I would make it to 30. Today, I'm placing bets on who's having the dopest retirement.

I'M FUCKING HAPPY.
