hello folks, new quarter, new attempt to not be a terrible rp partner. since getting a new job i've been honestly too tired to do much, but now that i'm getting used to new schedules and all, i want to get back to interacting more! (though, might i say, tumblr dms are just awful so if you want to, feel free to reach out to me on discord).
asami is now a fabula member! after 5 years of training, she's finally debuting at the end of the year, so needless to say she's so excited and ready, but asami will try her very best to keep contact with her trainee friends, so let me know if you're interested in plotting with her either about her debut or about anything else.
she's my darling kid, please don't let my inability to be consistent stop you from interacting with my sweet sweet child.
SIDE-EVENT 024 - LGC FAMILY CON 2K25
It felt quite surreal to know that Asami was green lit to debut around the time the Family Concert comes around. Maybe it's because she has been part of this event for such a long time, but it definitely feels a lot different even though she's not yet technically part of Fabula. She'll be added to the group after. Now, she has no business dealing with that.
But it's all she can think about. During practice, during resting time, as she's working her last days at the barbecue shop. In the shower, at the hair salon, at the gym, doing groceries, but especially during practice if she's to be honest.
It's not of Asami's nature to slack off, and she it's not because she has been told that she'll debut that she'll start doing that now. As far as she's concerned, she's on probation. They can cut her off just as easily as they chose her in (though Asami would never describe anything as easy).
Thankfully, HOT isn't the most difficult of Blazing's songs and Meow and Hit the Floor are both song styles Asami is familiar with, and she's doing good in all she has proposed to do. She's not too in her head this time around compared to all other times she has been part of the concert. Asami feels oddly light despite having the added weight of soon becoming a debuted artist.
So she observes. During rehearsals, she allows herself to be less strict and plays along more. One particular day when she barely slept, Asami got into the wrong room and started bossing people around until realizing she was at the male training schedule which made her quickly skip her way out after profusely apologizing and then collapsing in laughter once she was out of earshot.
At the day of the concert, she can't take her eyes off Fabula. They have always been a group she found impressive, but now that they were soon to be her group, too, there was just this innate twinkle around them at all times. Out of all four songs they performed, Asami thinks her favorite might still be OOTD. And then the realization that she will also be one performing it with them officially strikes her and Asami has to consciously tell herself to stop grinning like the Grinch.
Five years performing at this event like a trainee. Her last year performing at this event like a trainee. And Asami thought she'd be only happy. Ecstatic actually that this is the case. But she can't help the eerily feeling of nostalgia. By this time next year, her life wouldn't be at all like it is now.
NAKAMURA KAZUHA - COMPACT BITES👄🧑🍳
⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ untied
no, no, no, no, no!
the wording was wrong, the lyrics were off tempo and it just wasn't conveying the picture ruby had in her mind. with a frustrated sigh, she crossed out yet another potential for a lyric. the page was filled with crossed out lines. she ripped the page out of her book and began to rewrite what she's deciding to keep at the top. a fresh page. mostly blank. that'll help.
it didn't.
before the paper got too filled with scratched out lyrics, ruby pushed the book away from her and took a deep breath. she was starting to force it. forcing it would get her nowhere. the creative process was fickle and like leading a horse to water, you have to wait for it to drink. why were love songs so hard for her to write?
her head met with the table, making a loud bang. normally ruby would be apologetic for making such a loud noise but she couldn't muster the energy to lift her head and say sorry. this was going to bother her for days if she doesn't at least get the verse out. she knows what she's trying to describe. she just.... can't do it.
@lgcasami help me out!
Asami isn't one to insert herself in places or in conversations. She's not even the type who tries to eavesdrop usually, especially if there are no recognizable names in the conversations people are trying to have. Asami has always been a very "on her lane" type of person. That hasn't changed.
But she's observant, and it's not like Ruby was exactly subtle. She has been trying to focus on her own task all while also seeing the younger pretty much break down a few chairs away from her and it's... something. She doesn't think of interfering until she hears the thud against the table.
Asami takes her tablet and her phone and her gummy snacks and scoots over to the distressed new trainee. She turns the gummy bag towards her and nudges her lightly on the shoulder. "From my experience, sugar helps you think better," she offers quietly. "And two heads think better than one, if you need it."
DEBUT EVALUATION 001 - FINAL STEPS
Out of all of the groups Asami could have landed with, Fabula was probably the one she was dreading the most.
Not because she has ill-conceived ideas about the members, or because she doesn't like their concept or their songs. Very much on the contrary. Asami has been an avid listener of their songs and has practiced their routines more than most, if she is to be honest. And that's exactly why she dreaded the idea of becoming one of their members. She knows they are no play, and she knows that out of them all, Fabula has always been the one that gave her the most headaches when it comes to performing.
How does one dance the way they dance, and sing the way they sing all while pretty much every member is able to hold themselves up pretty nicely on their own? And how Asami is to hold up on her own in a group that is full of well rounded members? Isn't this her differential? Being fairly good at pretty much all of the performing fronts... So blending with the other members shouldn't be too difficult. It would be difficult to stand out, though, and that's a scary thought.
After nearly 6 years, she's finally debuting which in and of itself is already such a wild concept in some ways. Status quo be no more, everything she has know since moving to Korea is about to change. She needs to get in touch with her boss at the barbecue restaurant and let him know she'll need to resign. She needs to wrap up things with the dance academy, too, and stop paying for the extra classes. She won't be able to go home for Chuseok, too, which is becoming a norm these days. She should have gone the previous year.
At least Asami has the common sense to wait until the coaches leave the room to properly have a breakdown. She buries her face in her hands and let her legs give out as the tears come out in a mixture of relief and fear and anxiety and anticipation. Who would have thought she's see the day of actually debuting? It's not like she hasn't felt hopeless before because she has, but as of recently she had come to terms with her position as long-term trainee. But it was happening.

TRAINEE MISSION 022 - PERFORMANCE
The change of plans came midway through the month after Asami had already planned and practiced 16 shots to the moon and back. There was no real reason for it other than because Asami wanted to, so there was no one to blame but herself if things turned out to be mid. But she had thought that 16 shots was already too much of the same of what she had done in the past, so when she changed to Dally instead, she didn't have much time to regret it.
Honey sunbaenim's song isn't a style that Asami has ever done before, at least not in recent times. Very mature and sexy, besides performing in high heels, too, was a welcoming challenge, even if it was a complete 180º shift from her original performance. Asami stayed true to the official choreography, though. Different from 16 shots that is a style she's more used to and feels confident about changing things, Asami wanted to stay true to the nature of the song. That included floor choreography, twerking and rolling her hips... Hip control... was truly a challenge during practice.
Asami felt confident and comfortable the whole time when her turn came around, despite the short time for practice and last minute changes. She has approached most things nowadays with the "no-regrets" mentality, so it's not exactly surprising. This was probably the song that best made use of Asami's flexibility which was welcome in many ways. And even when she missed a beat or two during the second rap part, she didn't get hung up on that long enough to mess the whole routine as it would have happened in the past.
In the end, she managed to finish it, even with a few mistakes made along the way. Nothing too big to regret it, but definitely parts to improve in the future.
TRAINEE MISSION 022 - SEPTEMBER BOOTCAMP
Asami has been dreading the September bootcamp ever since it was announced. Good at playing instruments, singing, dancing, rapping and performing, and yet, she has not paid enough attention to the other areas that most definitely help any idol to debut.
Some of that discrepancy has lessened when she joined Charms Japan Radio the previous year, but that wasn't quite enough to make her a master radio host. Maybe just give her a little glimpse that she might have it in her to learn some basic skills quickly. Acting and variety on the other hand? Asami was shamefully low on her knowledge of those skills in particular. She doesn't know why she never picked up on those. Asami has always been more focused in what people can see. The immediate results of someone who has been doing this for a very long time. Acting and variety never seemed like the most pressing matters since those were areas she never got more interest in. Though, upon further thought, she most definitely saw the importance in those.
It does feel silly to practice that, however. Sillier than when she first started practicing singing and not being able to hold a note. Holding people's attention isn't a problem for Asami. She's a good performer after all, but variety requires her to be some level of entertaining. Funny and amusing entertaining, and Asami doesn't have a lot of that besides the fact she can do a few spins and be a good audience. She's too honest for witty replies, and too slow to come up with jokes. It's what her instructor tells her. She looks like she's trying too hard and doesn't look comfortable in front of a camera, it's what he tells her later that week. She doesn't look like the best option to be sent for any type of show, which is a shame because how else is people supposed to get to know her? Just by fancams and for being a possible future group? What if you end up solo? Having to hold it up for yourself with no one else to back you up? What if and more what if. It's more what ifs than she ever thought she'd have especially after coming to terms with her abilities earlier this year.
So there's practice. And more practice. Until something good turns out of it because Asami can be many things, but she won't let others stand by the belief that she might be mediocre.
TRAINEE MISSION 022 - AUGUST BOOTCAMP
Asami likes to think that, after this long time training, she is pretty well versed in singing, dancing and rapping. It would be much easier for her to just focus on one, and that's what she had done for a long time before branching out to singing as well as rapping. She doesn't regret it, but since she has limited time to develop both skills, some things tend to be left to be desired sometimes.
As of right now, she has more a better base to back herself up when it comes to singing, which is an insane statement to be made especially because she came in as a dance/rap trainee. Of course there are the trainers. It's a bootcamp after all and for all her years under their watchful eyes, she still needs guidance especially when they are at that time of the year again when people start noticing the trainees more, and they have the company concert right around the corner. Asami is no fool, it's time to make an impression.
She has been through the basics countless times, and she's not so skilled to try more advanced techniques, though, but staying with only what she knows sounded quite mundane, so Asami worked with what she knew and what she has as a standout. She'd practice singing in Korean and Japanese at first, since those are her main languages, and then English came sometime around the middle of August, sneaking up on her and making her reconsider everything. Rapping somehow came to her way easier in that language compared to singing, but a lot like her trainee life, Asami was juggling multiple skills at once, and somehow coming up with acceptable results and clear improvement. That she didn't sleep a whole lot that month was to no one but her to know.
TRAINEE MISSION 022 - JULY BOOTCAMP
Of course Asami signed up for the dancing competition and the dance bootcamp they went through wasn't even what motivated her to go back to her primary skill. She simply missed dancing.
She's not the strongest singer to be in a singing competition despite getting a lot better at it, and her rapping was always her secondary skill and she has been feelings fairly confident at it, but at this point, she really just wanted to enjoy dancing. Of course, preparing for a competition isn't exactly a good way to go back into enjoying something, especially because of the type of pressure it puts upon being good at it, but to Asami, this was like breathing, and she has been longing for good puffs of breath for a while.
Heavily inspired by the performance of 16 shots, Asami has been practicing for more hours everyday than usual. She wasn't seeking perfection, per se, but she tried to find her own style within someone else's choreography. More fluidity in some steps, more flexibility, less sharpness in some movements. Asami has tried multiple versions of the same performance until she got to one that not only aligned to what she wanted, but something that also mostly pleased her teachers.
"You have a habit of doing arm movements halfway, Asami," one of her teachers told her early on. He moved the way it was supposed to first and then showed her how she did it, "You always stop mid-way and drop it to the next movement, and that's not the first time I've noticed you doing that," he scratches the back of his buzzed head. "You wouldn't do that in ballet right? Don't create habits that will be difficult to get rid of just because you're not being classically trained anymore," was the one piece of advice that she took for the entirety of the month and became her homework throughout the bootcamp in July.
SHE HAS A SENIOR CAT: MY MOST COMPELLING REASONING FOR A LGCA PLOT CALL
now for my girl asami. she's still a hard-working sweetheart. i'm thinking she still moved to south korea in high school but just for a year as an exchange student and then moved back in again after finishing high school to study in university as a bachelor of science in nursing. yes, she's studying to become a nurse out of all things. i didn't want to make her an artist here again, and i think her personality just fits well with a good health professional, so there you have it!
asami is a long-term resident and she's very easy going. she likes living in a clean space like everyone, so she keeps everything in place, but she's by no means strict or demanding that things stay the way she leaves them. she has an 11 years old rescue cat called mumu who's currently the love of her life, she loves him and takes very good care of him. her hours are crazy because she's in her last semester until graduation so she has a lot of things to worry about but mumu is like her down time.
she's looking for two more roommates currently.
as for plot ideas, please consider:
the yellow umbrella is hers [ 1/1 ] - asami is somehow forgetful with trivial things like her umbrellas and she has forgotten many of them in the hallways and elevators over the years and she understands why people would take them away if they are just laying in there, but as of recently, you have been bringing it back to her. she doesn't know how you figured it out it's hers, but at least now she doesn't have to waste money with more umbrellas. yuxi
please buy a first-aid kit [ 0/1 ] - asami putting her graduation to play when you get hurt somehow and there's not even a bandaid in your medicine cabinet.
shared meals actually taste a lot better [ 1/1 ] - you and asami work at odd hours and there's no point in having a meal if you're alone, that's why they always hang with each other for a late night dinner. dominic
mumu is our kid even though he lives with me and we're not a couple [ 0/1 ] - you are the person asami was with when you found mumu abandoned. you also took him to the vet with asami and you both bought him his new bed, his medicine and toys. you also brought him back home with asami. you're co-parenting this senior cat with her.
lgcasami
"You know... I know it isn't your focus, but I think you give yourself way too little credit," and Asami isn't one to sugarcoat things usually, especially when related to work. She's kind and speaks softly, but Asami isn't someone inclined to lie in order to spare people's feelings. "Up until a while ago, you were even a better singer than I could ever think of being, and I'll admit, I've always liked your voice, unnie," she nods matter-of-factly and nods. "I don't think you'll have that much of a hard time with the arms, then. But see, you need to pay attention to when you move your arms like this," and Asami does the part she's demonstrating pointing down from side to side, "your hips are supposed to follow that movement, but because it's kind of quick, I think it can be a little confusing if you miss the beat. You wanna try that?"
“oh?” cherry tilts her head to the side, surprised by the other’s words. “i’ve never really been complimented on my singing” cherry shrugs, but perhaps asami was a little bit correct. sure, cherry wasn’t the best singer in the world, but she also did make it sound like she was the worst. cherry has just always been used to putting herself down, assuming she’s not really good at anything because usually she’s not really good at anything. “thank you asami” cherry smiles to the other, still a bit surprised though. “my voice is good for podcasts, but i still have to work a lot on my singing, still, asami, thanks for complimenting me” truly, cherry wasn’t used to compliments.
cherry looks at the other as she demonstrates, following carefully, but letting out a sigh, it seems difficult for cherry. “i kind of struggled with the hips part, but i’’ll try again” she nods, then attempts, doesn’t feel like she did it properly though “what are you thinking?” cherry bites her lips, hoping for some useful advice to come her way.
"You should be praised for the things you do well. It doesn't matter how well," Asami says like it's the most obvious argument to something that she knows isn't all that simple. It's less about giving people who don't deserve the praise something to stroke their ego with and more about offering people who need encouragement that little something else. Countless times in the last couple of years alone, Asami was picked up from the bottom because someone said something nice. But she knows it sometimes it can sound like pity, but she doesn't do pity calls.
Asami bites her nail as she sees Cherry practicing this particular part. A nervous habit she seems to have developed recently. "Let me ask you. Have you ever played with the hula hoop before?"
Kyoka... well, Kyoka's honestly just here for the ride. If she was being honest, she's still feeling a bit overwhelmed from everything. It helps though, that she's once again tagging along with Asami. They make a good team, she thinks, their skills overlap in a way that hides their own weaknesses but also their general images too.
"Really?" Kyoka asks, gnawing at the end of her pen, "You think?" It's a bit funny, suddenly being one of the better singers around, but it is true, and it's not like she can pretend dance or rap is what she's better at. That was Asami, so much more rounded than her nowadays. "I think higher, I'm still not used to it, my muscles at least." If it came down to it though, she would of course take the part but she's so used to taking the lower parts out of habit Asami's suggestion jolts her a bit. "Maybe we can give it another listen?"
The group mentality never leaves Asami's mind nowadays, it seems. Maybe it's because of the way she was raised and trained, but group projects in general seem to generate much better results in her opinion than when she's alone. It's mostly because talking it out seems to help if she thinks about seriously. Asami taps her pen absentmindedly on her knee, "Of course. I think it's worth at least a try, to be honest. There's no harm in trying, and this song actually fits your voice well for both parts."
She nods, "Sure thing," and presses the play button of the playlist that only has this one song repeatedly. "Tell me if there's some part that you wanna try in particular or what kind of feeling in specific that you want to portray. It's not like we have to stick with this distribution anyway, I guess. We can always tweak things here and there."
a starter for @lgcasami
normally yerim likes the rain, especially during the summer but today it felt like it was a hassle - because she had to go back to the dorm after practice and it wasn't nice and sunny outside, it was rainy and the sun had set so it was bound to be a little chilly as well. yerim couldn't help but be frustrated with herself as she pondered her choices, because she had forgotten her umbrella.
it was her own fault really, she hadn't looked at the forecast properly and it was sunny when she left... ok, maybe not sunny, but it wasn't raining and while at legacy she had secretly hoped that maybe the weather would ease and be a more light drizzle, rather than whatever this was.
" oh boy, " she sighed to herself as she sat in a couch in the hallway, impatiently tapping her fingers against her thigh.
Asami has always been a very well prepared type of person. She's the type to make shopping lists every time she needs to go to the grocery, she checks in schedules at least twice before leaving the house, so of course she knew that despite being a not-sunny-but-not-rainy-either day, it would be wise to take an umbrella with her for the day of practice.
She was right of course, and Asami had just fished the object from her bag and was stuffing her papers and tablet back in when she heard the faint sound of a sigh. It's not like she hadn't seen that same situation before, to be honest, but it's not like she's very close to Yerim, despite them being trainees together for a long time. She approaches her gingerly, though, her unwrapped umbrella still in her hand. "Caught you off guard?" she asks quietly and points at the outside.
starter for: @lgckyoka
To say that Asami is grateful to be paired up with Kyoka might as well be a understatement. Not only this is someone Asami is very familiar with, but they have worked together before which given them (in Asami's opinion) some advantage when it comes to things they want and don't want to do, and in this case, punctuate things in each other's approach that might or might not work.
They had settled in singing Starlight by Taeyeon and Dean, so there was one goal checked on their list, now there was the part of choosing which parts each other them would cover and that wasn't that much of a struggle, but still... "I just think you'd suit the higher parts. You are the better vocalist between the two of us after all, but I can do it if you want me to," Asami spun the pen between her fingers and she looked up to Kyoka. "I wouldn't want to push you out of your comfort zone. You'd do well regardless."
DEBUT EVALUATION 001 - LGC GROUP EVALUATION
Up until week 4, Asami was confident about all the songs she was meant to perform. Accendio was very likely the one that Asami felt the most confident at because everything about it was part of her training over the years. The song, the choreography, the singing, she was used to it all, and it wasn't that much of a hustle for her to learn and perform in front of the coaches.
HOT was a little more difficult, but that's mostly because of choreography being a little more intricate than the other, and that meant she had to pay more attention to little details than not. It was still something Asami felt used to, and wasn't that out of her comfort zone.
But then the week for High Horse came around and that was the most difficult time Asami might have had. Not only the song was a tad bit more difficult than the others, High Horse also had a lot more collaborative choreography to work with. Crystallis always had this in their dances. One member being the extension of other and so on and so forth, and Asami was never particularly good at that aspect. She's someone who likes practicing alone, and even if minimal, there are differences when practicing these kind of steps by herself and when she's with other people. At least, there was also the fact that compared to the other two, Asami felt like High Horse was a much more delicate sort of feel, and she could benefit from her dance background for that.
Less of an increase or decrease in confidence, Asami's situation just fluctuated as the weeks went on. There are things she's good at, and there are things she's not so good at, and she has gotten way better in some other things, and that's something she has learned to deal with over the years. Week 1 was probably the most stressful one, but week 2 was pretty easy. Week 3 was fun as she worked with Kyoka and week 4 worked out pretty nicely. Week 5 and 6 were the most stressful weeks out of them all, but nothing unmanageable.
Something that she has tried to change in her approach, since she's working in group, was to stop trying to take the lead because she can come off as a bit strict or perfectionist, and since no one put her in that position, she doesn't want to look bossy or like she's overstepping.
