"should we bring up the idea to the artists' management team? i'm sure they can transform one of those conference rooms into a treatment center." she jokes. "also, maybe request preferential treatment since it's our idea, you know. would've also said a cut of the profit, but that would give them the idea to charge us. i prefer discounted or free service." she continues on. the beginning might be a joke, but the rest is actually true. though, lately, she's found herself eyeing out-of-price items more and more. only the several 0s on the price tag have stopped her until now, when she wouldn't have looked that way before. and then, there's been noeul's birthday gift... while the money she spent on it was proportionate to her income, just as usual, well... things have changed, haven't they? the young woman is aware of how much she's changed since her trainee days, however, the way her income seems to be trying to twist her sense of scale and value scares her some. she doesn't want to become one of these superficial, wasteful girl that she couldn't relate to in the past. they say money and power corrupts and she's starting to see it.
yichen might laugh, but milan let's out an appreciative sound. "you think this isn't fun? the fans would love that, though!" she exclaims. the bathrobe idea makes her laugh, and really, she cannot understand what is wrong with those. she'd suggest that herself. "if you can't do that much, how are you doing to do during fansigns when fans bring princess tiaras and animal ears headbands?" she asks, still amused.
"i promise not to let that idea slip around noeul, or something." she says innocently. it's not secret that they are (...were???) close, and therefore. be the one person she'd talk to. "did you suggest something already?" she asks, steering the subject back on track. "if nova was ever asked to do something like that, i'd try to find an idea that would let me use the company's credit card." she says with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
now that the hydrating coat is dry, milan can finally begin her work in earnest. there's no playing around this time. she will show people that she can truly do nail art. armed with her black matte, silver, and gold nail polish, she leans even closer to his fingers and begins her work in earnest, with assured and practiced movements.
âwe could, if theyâre actually willing to listen,â yichen said, a hint of doubt in his voice. âi mean, whoâs really going to take a suggestion from a trainee and a junior idol seriously? theyâll probably just brush it off.â he straightened his back and mimicked a stiff, overly polite tone. ââthanks for the suggestion. weâll take that into consideration,ââ he quoted, complete with a customer service smile before shrugging.
he wasnât entirely convinced the artistsâ management team would take their idea seriously. setting up a treatment center sounded ideal, but the logistics were another story; costs, manpower, maintenance. sure, legacy had money, but would it be profitable in the long run? probably not, unless it operated like their fan cafĂŠ. âokay, but hear me out,â yichen continued, this time more thoughtful. âwhat if the treatment center was appointment-based only? open it to the public on weekends and reserve weekdays for artists and staff. the company could even market it as âexperience the same treatment as your favorite idol.â you know, something cheesy but catchy.â
he opened his mouth to protest milanâs next suggestion but found no words. a tiara at a fanmeeting? sure, he could live with that. that was fan service, part of the job. but a bathrobe... in a public setting? with strangers? no way. âwearing a tiara at a fanmeet is not the same as showing up to a schedule in a bathrobe,â yichen said flatly, eyes narrowing. "no one gives you weird looks at a fanmeet.â
he was about to argue that the company would never approve the idea until he realized it actually had potential. âitâs not about the company credit card, though i gotta say, that part was genius. my idea was to let fans take ridiculous, meme-worthy photos of us. then they can go wild editing them however they want. maybe even turn it into a photo editing competition or something.â
as milan focused on his nails, yichen sat up straighter than usual, trying his best not to move a muscle. with her completely locked in on her task, he didnât dare flinch. he wasnât about to be the reason her masterpiece got smudged.
ă LGC TEMP AGENCY 001 / REVIEWÂ ă Â Â Â Â Â Â â... 342 words
they seem to be catching their strides in all of this rather well, adapting quickly as nina is correct in figuring out the first word. it helps that the next word to come seems to be easier to say, easier to sound out and piece together, yichen laying the groundwork out for her rather smoothly. she needs to be faster, needs to focus with more intensity, her partners body language suggesting a steadily rising antsiness. he wants them to be successful in all of this, nina wouldn't doubt that, and so does she.
nina is able to pick up what the other is saying to her, following the contours of his lips as he repeats himself a few timesâ dae. nothing too difficult about that, the consonant being a breeze to make out. next, another quickly solved puzzle, nina own lips loosely following along with the way she sees yichens move. bak.
a quick snap of her fingers, a pinpoint moment of realization.
"daebak? daebak!" the words leave her quickly, an intensity behind them unfamiliar to someone so generally monotone in nature. she feels herself beginning to lean forward just a tad, her drive intensifying, the need to know she's gotten this correct becoming slightly overbearing. there's no way she's wrong, she knows it. "that's right, isn't it? the next oneâ what's next?"
aside from the hiccup with the earlier word, yichen figured they were doing pretty well. as the two of them started getting the hang of the game, their rhythm became smoother. the speed at which nina guessed daebak was genuinely impressive. no hesitation, no mispronunciations. now that the momentum was on their side, all they needed to do was power through the final two words to complete their second phrase.
nodding with satisfaction, yichen gave her a thumbs up before deciding to jump straight into the next two words instead of taking them one at a time. he had full confidence in her. âshi dae,â he mouthed carefully, exaggerating the syllables before combining them into a full phrase. âdaebak shidae!â
the timer was ticking, but instead of feeling anxious or rushing his teammate, a spark of confidence began to grow in his eyes. even though this was just a test run, he couldnât shake the feeling that they might actually get all the words right within the time limit.
one step at a time, nina finds herself repeating mentally, one step at a timeâ while they're meant to complete this challenge in a rather tight crunch, the redhead knows patience is key. blindly throwing around possible answers wasn't going to help them reign victorious in the slightest. teamwork was the key, their shared blocked sense of sound the only true obstacle between them and a satisfying win. so, nina wills herself to stay calm, doing her best to downplay the barrage of music blasting in her ears, leaning forward slightly to better focus on what yichen was trying to convey to her.
she's on the right track, this much she can tell.
"woo . . . woo ee," she's sure that, once this finally airs and she's able to watch it all back for herself, she'll find herself to be rather silly looking. while this isn't exactly the image she's ever debated showcasing before, nina can't say she necessarily dislikes itâ looking silly, looser, less cold the way she normally does. she reckons it'll be a nice change for fans to witness, a side of her that's unexpected, but not bad. alongside this, though they've only interacted now, yichen is good company to partake in all of this with.
so, she keeps trying, sounding out what she thinks he's telling her for a few seconds. woo ee . . . woo ee woo . . . wait. woo ee woo . . ? a flip switches in her brain, nina snapping her fingers as she stares at yichen. milk. the redhead says as much, repeating herself a few times, gaze darting from her partner to the surrounding staff and back. she's right, she has to be . . . right?
when nina repeated exactly what he had mouthed instead of piecing the words together, yichen felt like he was on the verge of losing his mind. time was ticking away, and his patience was wearing thin. while he enjoyed timed games that added an extra challenge, working under pressure had never been his strong suit. for a brief moment, he questioned whether he should even continue, until he heard the correct word.
"yes, that's correct!" he exclaimed, bouncing slightly in his seat. a wave of relief and excitement washed over him as he turned to the staff member, who was already flipping to the next word.
feeling a boost of confidence from their small victory, yichen was ready to tackle the next challenge. he took a quick glance at the new word and, for once, didnât feel like complaining. compared to the nightmare that was milk, this one seemed relatively easier, even if it was slightly longer.
having realized that breaking words down into syllables worked best, he decided to stick to the same approach. he counted on his fingers, showing four to indicate the number of syllables. then, holding up one finger, he enunciated clearly, "dae!" he immediately caught himself and realized he could be misheard as saying "lae," which would only lead to more confusion. changing tactics, he decided to give her a bigger hint.
"daebak!" he tried again, exaggerating the movement of his lips and smacking them together to emphasize the 'b' sound. he could only hope nina picked up on it before the timer ran out.
On occasion, Baek Byeongkwan is struck by his own sixth sense - The one that tells him it's about time he went to annoy Yichen ( and by now he's felt the urge at least four times since the team had been dropped off on set ).
Unfortunately, Yichen's senses are about twice as strong. He frowns. "That's no fair and you know it!" Ever persistent, he waves a hand in front of Yichen's phone, twiddling his fingers a bit for good measure. "You don't even know what I was coming over here for. What if I was about to tell you I won the lottery or somethin'?" If that were the case, he'd be high tailing it out of there with this chocoset tucked under his arm but that's neither here nor there.
"It's too early for you to already be this grumpy..." He purses his lips, plucking a chocolate from its case to offer his groupmate with a smile. "C'mon... Try it! You're not yourself when you're hungry."
"if you'd won the lottery, you wouldn't be here, and i wouldâve heard about it long before you even showed up," yichen replied with a dry, monotone voice. if bk really had won, the entire studio would be in chaos, celebrating with him. the noise alone wouldâve reached yichenâs ears, even through his airpods.
but, of course, that wasnât the case.
eyes still fixed on his phone, yichen leaned back in his chair, pulling the device out of bkâs reach as he swatted at the annoying hands. âyou do realize iâm only grumpy when youâre around, right?â he deadpanned, clicking his tongue as he turned his entire body away from the chocolate the other offered. it wasnât that he was in a bad mood. bk just had a talent for getting on his nerves in record time.
"iâm not eating that. besides, the photoshoot hasn't even started, and you're already snacking? what if thereâs not enough for the shoot?"
ă MZSD 002 (PART 1) / PLEDGEÂ ă Â Â Â Â Â Â â... 365 words
lip reading, whilst not seeming to be a difficult task in theory ( nina is standing in direct sight of the other's mouth, how could she possibly not make out what's being said ), throws her for a slightly larger loop than the redhead had initially been anticipatingâ did certain consanants and vowels really resemble one another that much to the point of drawing embarrassing blanks? having never participated in a game like this, nina has only ever heard of instances where things get rather hectic, frustrations often running high in a comedic way. at the very least, if she ends up making herself look foolish while making completely incorrect guesses, viewers will get a kick out of it.
yichen is, no doubt, trying his hardest. nina needs to do the same.
with squinted eyes, gaze narrowing on the way the others mouth is moving, nina does her best to narrow down possible things he might be saying. in her stupor, she finds her head tilting to one side slightly, brows furrowing as she wracks her brain. " . . . oo?" she's sure she looks rather silly. hand lifting, nina tries again, finger pointing forward in tandem with her words. "yu? yu, or . . . woo?" the headphones constantly blasting music through her head certainly do a good job at annoying her, the sound of her own inner voice drowned out despite how much louder she knows she's speaking.
"it's not just oo, right? there's a letter in front," nina tries to confirm, head nodding slightly. she huffs slightly, trying to keep focused, sounding out alongside yichen. "woo?"
whoever added milk to the list of words either wanted to challenge the players or simply enjoyed watching them struggle in desperation. yichen briefly considered skipping the round, but his ego and competitive nature wouldnât allow it. he was determined to do the impossible. and if he succeeded, it would be a personal achievement worth celebrating. that is, if nina could actually decipher what he was trying to say.
this game was seriously testing both their chemistry and their patience. if one of them lost their cool, the other would likely follow suit, and that would be the end of their streak. thatâs why yichen did his best to stay calm, despite the blaring music making it nearly impossible to focus.
for what felt like an eternity, he pursed his lips, nodding and shaking his head as nina hovered between the correct and wrong answers. his hands twitched with the urge to gesture, but rules were rules: no hand signals allowed. so, when she finally got the first word right, he nodded aggressively, eyes widening in excitement.
then came the real challenge. his lips barely moved as he attempted to mouth yoo, and he quickly realized it wasnât working. adjusting his approach, he tried breaking it down into clearer syllables. "ee... ooo," he enunciated slowly. the result? something that sounded suspiciously like woo ee woo. he could only hope nina would somehow piece it together because at this rate, it was better than having her stare at his barely moving lips in complete confusion.

mzsdâs first group photoshoot and yichen could already feel the chaos brewing around him. having been one of the first to finish hair and makeup, he had retreated to a quiet corner with airpods snug in his ears as he focused on a movie. the noise from the other side of the room was more than enough to give him a headache, especially when a few of the guys decided that stacking themselves on top of each other while doing push-ups was a brilliant idea. this is exactly why men have a shorter lifespan.
though his eyes remained fixed on his screen, his 'anti-bk' senses started tingling. right on cue, a shadow loomed over him. yichen sighed, not even bothering to look up. âwhatever youâre thinking, no. go away,â he said flatly, his tone as unbothered as ever. the movie had just reached an interesting part and there was no way he was pausing it to entertain him of all people.

despite being rather unversed in the world of variety content, ninas far and few between prominent soirees with schedules like this being limited to a few guest appearances on shows hosted by labelmates, as well as her stint with akio on intimate note last year, the red head can't say she finds herself feeling nervous as filming for the day begins. this is a bit different from what she's experienced, even within the variety content she's done since becoming an idol, but that's what's got her feeling intrigued.
she and yichen, her partner in all of this, have clear roles to play with a defined goalâ game testing. easy enough, nina supposes, their pool of activities to choose from being rather wide to work with.
"this shouldn't be too hard. just challenging enough, i say," nina comments lightly, eyeing the headphones that'd been given to her once she and yichen decided on their first trial. music is already blasting from her set, causing her brows to furrow slightly as she heatlessly glares at one of the many cameras pointed their way. she adjusts the glasses sitting high atop her nose ( the stylist had insisted they worked for today's concept ), smoothing her hair in preparation. "to start, i can try guessing the words you say first, then we switch?" getting into position, her back turned from the stack of cards held up behind her for yichen to read, ninas voice comes a bit louder as she slips her headphones on, lips forming a slight smile. "i hope you're good at enunciating."
besides his appearance on intimate note with noeul, yichenâs lack of variety show experience made filming somewhat nerve-wracking. to be fair, he hadnât officially debuted yet, so getting even one variety show appearance as a trainee was better than none. the only advantage? he didnât need extensive acting experience to pull this off. variety shows were all about showcasing a personâs natural personality and how they were when they werenât performing on stage. as long as he avoided any unwanted behavior, this should be easy⌠right?
the game they were testing was straightforward. yichen had seen it played on other variety shows before and always found it hilarious. âiâve never tried this before, but i know it can get pretty⌠chaotic,â he said, already picturing the mzsd boys playing it. given how loud they were as a group, the set would probably turn into absolute chaos within minutes.
music was already blasting through the headphones as the staff handed them to him. did no one worry about potential hearing damage? still, he nodded. âsure, iâll try my best.â and he meant it. when it came to games, yichen got seriously competitive, even during a trial run.
slipping the headphones on, the deafening music drowned out every sound, including his own thoughts. he glanced at the staff member holding a stack of papers behind nina and gave a thumbs-up. the first word was revealed, and his eyes widened in disbelief. how on earth was he supposed to pronounce milk without changing how his lips moved? lips rounded and pursed, he decided to take it one sound at a time. âwoo..WOO.â
milan doesn't know much about love with a capital letter, but yichen letting her paint his nails falls right in her personal definition of love. pretty hands, well kept nails, and carte blanche; what more can a girl ask for? she's careful and delicate as she trims and files his nails into the same slightly rounded shape. the goal here is to have them look as natural as possible. "see this as a mini spa day" she answers encouragingly. maybe she should've prepared a warm towel to cover his eyes, have in lay back in a comfortable armchair... something to consider. maybe nabi would let her take a corner of their studio and turn it into a mini spa/relaxation corner? something to consider for later.
hearing yichen's complaints, she can't help but wonder if miyu feels that way at times. at least, the young woman now has her own room to retreat to if the other members get too loud. though, the little time they spend at the dorm is usually used to catch up on sleep nowadays.
still, she chuckles quietly; there's something adorable in the way yichen complains. she suspects that he doesn't truly dislike her beauty services and might even appreciate his turbulent groupmates deep down. deep deep down. "a first-place pledge, sounds fun though..." their conversation doesn't distract her from her work. once she's satisfied with the shape of his nails, she begins applying a hydrating base coat. "they haven't been suggesting things like skydiving, right?" she looks away from her work to stare at yichen. "tell me they haven't reach that level of insanity."
mini spa day. the words resonated in his head. it wasnât a bad idea to have a designated relaxation corner for artists and staff to unwind after packed schedules. no, scratch that. the company should offer actual spa services. he could already picture the long queue snaking outside, especially during comeback season when everyone was running on coffee.
"a mini spa day sounds nice. iâd be a frequent patron if the company actually offered something like that," he mused. if they did have such a service, he wouldnât have to trouble milan anymore either. she was an idol too and he felt a little guilty every time he took up her time.
"it sounds fun when they give normal, basic ideas," he countered, glancing from milan to his nails. "but then they come up with things like letting the fans decide what we do," he sighed loudly, exasperation clear in his tone. "or arriving at a schedule dressed in bathrobes and sunglasses."
if not for the wet polish on his nails, yichen would have facepalmed right then and there. instead, he let out a despairing laugh at milan's suggestion. "please donât suggest this to them. i still value my life very much."
ă ALL THINGS GLITTERY ă Â Â Â Â Â Â Â â... starter for @lgcmilan
yichen had no idea why he found himself seeking milanâs beauty services again, especially after the last time she attempted to braid his fringe into two tiny antennas. maybe spending all day surrounded by chaotic men had finally made him snap and he needed a change of pace. even if that meant letting her paint his nails.
"i canât believe iâm doing this again," he muttered to the girl in front of him. "but i guess itâs better than being stuck in a room full of yappers. with the kind of ideas theyâve been throwing around for our first-place pledge, itâs no wonder men have a shorter lifespan than women."
he sighed dramatically but still obediently spread his fingers, letting milan get to work.

Haneul falls away from Yichen and onto the sofa, pretending that two fingers hurt him. Pouting and trying his best to look like a sulky fox, he refuses to abandon his train if thought. "But we shouldn't let people settle for bare minimum," he says with a nod. "Least of all people who are supposed to love and cherish us as their idols. Never let our fans settle for bare minimum in terms of love, career, and life." Okay, that's probably a bit much, but settling for bare minimum isn't an option.
"And risk being unable to use my hands for practical classes and god knows what choreography the powers that be gave prepared for us? No, thanks." Haneul shudders as he makes a face at Yichen. "I like my aesthetic shots, but I value being able to use my hands a lot more."
yichen sighs deeply, staring at haneul with his lips pressed into a thin line. itâs clear the younger isnât giving up anytime soon. his gaze drifts toward the window, where the snow outside sparkles in the sunlight. "are you really using the fans as an excuse now? because, itâs working," he mutters in defeat. with a lazy stretch on the couch, he begrudgingly pushes himself up. "fine, for the fans, iâll go out, but you owe me something nice and warm," he adds, folding his blanket with exaggerated reluctance.
"i didnât realize your hands were so delicate, though. one touch of snow and they instantly look like prunes." he chuckles softly, reaching into the cabinet and pulling out two pairs of gloves. tossing one pair in haneul's direction, he adds with a grin, "letâs not have your pretty fingers turning into raisins, yeah?"
