Yeah, I might be deeply—if not extremely—flawed but I’m no different than any of the others who’ve established strong businesses and brands. I survived the hood, child abuse, having little to nothing to now having a family and a business. I’m gonna keep striving to do different and be different to see new opportunities and new successes.
Hopefully, folks—my folks—will continue to roll with me.

As an Artist, Designer, Photographer, and Entrepreneur, the goal is often Alignment. As I grow and develop, I’ve come to understand that getting things to work together will sometimes be a natural process and will take effort, strategy, foresight and patient yet consistent critical thinking.
For me, operating within multiple categories to establish an identity and brand alignment and cohesion are fundamental if not key.
As a form of growth, putting it all together is also about my own spiritual and artistic health. My creativity runs from very specific places, wisdoms, inspirations and experiences. I just need to better contain them to form one source capable of creating varying yet consistent worlds.

While believe in “Black”, I believe in doing and becoming more than what the term and identity is today.
BEYOND BLACK
What’s difficult yet surprising though is in getting “Black” and Brown to understand, acknowledge and get past these terms that have become constructs of our own diminishment and destruction. People who talk about growth and change also are hard to change and grow. Perhaps because growth is complicated and difficult or more than changing one’s identity often becomes a lonely affair.
We should be at a point where we accept the identity—that others actually came up with to fully set us apart—of “Black” including Black History but position to be ready to move forward and out of one of the most basic systems of control; self-identity. We should be at this ready to move on to a new identity to mark our change. Are we ready? I know I am!

LESSONS
Never underestimate the need to be heard and the feeling of connection.
Two consultations this past week and upon review and assessment, I’ve come to the conclusion that I limit my own self sometimes by thinking I need to be seen or heard. Sometimes we get in our own way of creating when trying to create to appeal…when what we really need to do is to create for ourselves.
Learn to create for yourself. Take yourself out of the commercial, corporate and capitalist mindset of doing for money and do your thing by creating to express yourself. Create to manifest the version of yourself you want to become. Create to not only communicate but to also grow.
We lack adequate development sometimes because we’re only facilitating growth as defined and directed by our environments. True growth—the catalyst to true powerful impactful growth—comes from making the decision to change and change in the way of refusing all that is and has become normalized within our families, friendships and communities. Question who you are and what you have done and test the waters in doing things different than the regular scheduled programs.
When you “do”—when you act for change—act for yourself and NOT for others. Truly, it will always be others that after yourself will serve as your most difficult obstacles yet powerful lessons.
