How Scandal should have ended
I canāt articulate my disappointment at the Scandal finale after watching 7 seasons of the show. So,hereās the ending we never knew we deserved:
Rowan takes the fall for B613 and finally redeems himself as a father figure to both Jake and Olivia. He realizes the depth of the things he has done wrong over the decades and the jail scene is repeated only with Eli being in the cell & Jake also being on the outside. He gives one of his final epic monologues and reminds both his kids to be better people.
Charlie goes to kill Cyrus because of what he has done to his family&this presents a role reversal from earlier seasons when Charlie was just muscle for hire for Cyrus. Charlie is ultimately stopped by Quinn who tells him that David has enough evidence to prosecute Cyrus for faking his assassination attempt. Charlie wakes away showcasing his transformation in character but Cyrus who cannot stand the idea of prison decides to take the gun and end his own life briefly requesting them not to tarnish his reputation for the sake of his daughter.
A relative or friend of President Rashad attempts to kill Olivia and she does not resist understanding the depth of her mistakes but reminding him that this cannot take away his pain. Fitz is killed as he jumps in the line of fire & it seems that Olivia is next. However, her mother saves her at the last minute and the two share an intimate moment as Marie asks for forgiveness and finally apologizes for what she put her through as a child. She disappears before the police rush to the scene and reminds Liv that she may be gone but always watching over her. Fitzās death along with Cyrusās prompts mourning across the world bringing in many world leaders for the proceedings. Along with them, Stephen returns to share a few words with Liv&his former team members.
President Grantās funeral begins with a eulogy by Liv and ends with her goodbyes to Mellie&Jake&her team resolving the conflicts they had in the past and expressing her love. The show ends with a flashforward.
Abby is seen arguing a case in support of a victim of domestic violence securing an apparent victory and she leaves the courtroom to meet David who hints at marriage in their future.
Charlie is shown at QPA with a new client wondering where Huck is, when Quinn reminds him that he is with his family for lunch. Huck is shown enjoying a meal with his son finally having earned forgiveness from his ex.
Liv is shown on an island similar to her time on Zanzibar and she calls out āJakeā but it is revealed to be a young boy(her son apparently with Fitz). He runs up to her and asks where they will be going next as she seems to have been traveling with him constantly. She tells him that they will be going to D.C. next showing her readiness to return to action.
Jake is shown teaching at Quantico leading the future of American intelligence agencies, but staying away from the violence of the past. His class ends and then he shares cute banter with an female agent before agreeing to meet for dinner.
Marcus continues to run the Fitzās Institute after his death & is seen working closely with Mellie who is now in her second term.
The finale ends with a shot of Ella(Cyrusās daughter)& Robin looking with awe at the portrait of Liv in Smithsonianās National Portrait Gallery.
