“probably,” henry shrugged as he held the bottle up and looked at it himself, as if inspecting it would somehow, telepathically, let him know if there were any others. he continued to make his way around the pool, one foot in front of the other, balancing carefully — or, not so carefully, in his drunken state — on the edge. “here,” he said as soon as he was beside the boy, handing him his own bottle of beer before plopping himself down at the edge of the pool, letting his feet dangle in the water and forgetting to roll up his trousers. “i am…” he trailed off and shook his head, “no idea. enjoying my day off, i guess?”
HE watched his friend balancing on the edge of the pool, ready to dive in if need be. Luckily, it didn’t seem like that would be necessary when Henry finally neared him. Liam took the bottle and stared at the liquid for a moment before taking a sip. He had never really liked the taste of beer, but he needed something. “Thanks, dude.” He took a sip of the drink. “What’s it like to have a day off?” Liam asked. Maybe he probably should skip classes for a few days just to have a break. But then when he went back, he’d have work to catch up on. “Should we go find you another beer or are you done?”

“The lack of daylight really compliments you”, he gave as a more of a charming answer to a non-charming state. God, the guy looked really worse for wear and Oscar felt bad, kind of. He didn’t need to struggle to decipher the name or title of the book to recognize it; he knew the damn guy who wrote it. But here, away from life and home, these things didn’t bother him quite like they did on the outside or as they apparently did the other. “I’d back away from the pool, though. I’m no lifesaver but I still don’t want you to drown in there.” Now, that he seemed up to talk and Oscar himself was not preoccupied with his phone or worse, his thoughts, he shifted where he lay on his stomach in of the daybeds to a somewhat sitting position to face the other boy. “Fundamentals of Corporate Finance isn’t worth all that.”
“WELL I was going for the whole vampire vibe,” he laughed, before realizing how stupid that comment probably was. Oh well. At least it wasn’t the worst thing that he had said and he’d blame lack of sleep for not making any sense. “Ignore that last comment. I’m exhausted.” Clearly. Liam didn’t think that he had the mind for being a business owner. He was too soft and easily stressed out when faced with a decision. “If the book goes in the pool, then I guess logic says I should drop the class.” He was being slightly dramatic. There was no way his father would ever let him drop the class just because he ruined the book. “I’m good. I won’t fall in, unless it’s on purpose. Half tempted to just jump in.” Maybe jumping into the water would clear his mind a bit. “It really isn’t. My mind just keeps wondering to my music composition course instead of business.”
A sense of relief quickly washed over her as she was met with a friendly face once the silver balloon floated back up into the air, a soft smile tugging at the corners of burgundy stained lips as the male introduced himself to her. “I’m just glad you’re not totally mad at me,” the girl laughed. This was NYC after all, and she had more often than not accidentally bumped into someone or knocked over something that belonged to someone else and offended them. Something the brunette figured had a lot to do with the fact she was more of the clumsy, socially awkward type than anything. “I really wasn’t expecting this place to have so many rooms,” she admitted. It was totally mesmerizing. She had yet to come across a space she didn’t like. That didn’t immediately call for her to work on her drawings. It almost reminded her of being back in college in a weird way. “I’m Aubrey,” she smiled.
HE always tried to be friendly with the people that he met at The Factory because he nevr knew when they were someone he could do a collaboration with. There were always a bunch of people around to inspire his songwriting. Not that he wrote songs that often. When he did, he never shared them with people. One of these days he’d have more confidence in his ability to write. “Nah, worse has happened to me in this city. And besides, it wasn’t like you did it on purpose.” He’d done some truly embarrassing things before and gotten yelled at for them. Liam tried not to get mad at other people for doing something on accident. “Yeah, but once you’re here long enough, you start to figure out where everything is. Takes a while though.” Liam smiled at her. “Nice to meet you Aubrey.” He didn’t know how to keep a conversation going. “So what brought you here?” he asked, cringing at how much of a dork he probably sounded.
Henry had the next day off, which was just about his only justification for being drunk on a Wednesday night — or was it Thursday morning? He’d wandered up to the rooftop with a Corona bottle in one hand and a lei made of plastic flowers strung around his neck. No idea where that came from. Though it was still dark out, the city lights below in addition to the lights that were strung across the rooftop made it brighter than Henry had expected, and he balanced on the edge of the pool as he ambled over to one of the beach chairs, only stopping when he noticed a familiar head of hair asleep on the other side. “Yep,” Henry nodded in affirmation, “you look like shit, buddy. What are you doing up here?”
LIAM was pretty sure one of these days he was just going to pass out from exhaustion and just sleep for days. Then he’d have to hear from his dad about how he wasn’t working hard enough. And he’d probably be out of a job. He really hoped that someone would eventually take pity on him — his employer, his dad, one of his professors, literally anyone. The lights from the city made it almost impossible not to have good lighting to read. Liam looked up and spotted Henry. He was unable to keep the grin off his face at his friend. “Well, I was trying to study,” he responded, holding up the book before tossing it closer to his backpack and out of reach. “Instead of lugging everything back home, it was easier to come here.” Liam eyed the bottle of Corona in his friend’s hand. “Are there more of those somewhere?” Usually Liam wasn’t a fan of beer, but tonight he didn’t care. “What are you doing? Besides getting drunk in the middle of the week.”
SLEEP just didn’t happen that often for Liam anymore. With school, work, and band practice, he didn’t have time to get a decent night’s sleep. He honestly probably could use a break and a long weekend where he could just sleep and not worry about everything. But of course, he wasn’t going to get a break for a while. Liam had no idea what time it was when he’d made his way from his shift at work to The Factory so he could work on homework without having to lug all himself all the way back home. Feet dangling over the side of the pool, he hummed under his breath while he attempted to get through the book he was supposed to be reading on finances. Except his brain just kept thinking about the composition he wanted to be working on. He felt himself beginning to doze off, until his head dropped and his book almost went in the pool. “Do I look as crappy as I feel?” he asked, setting the book to the side.
The first time visiting a new place by yourself was always a little intimidating. She had read all about The Factory on social media; seen videos on her Instagram stories that were a little too hard to ignore and had heard stories from her former classmates and art friends that only left her all the more curious about its whereabouts. The atmosphere was positively inspiring. A place unlike any other in the city yet one that made her feel right at home. The girl ate, lived and breathed art after all — and the fact this was a place where she’d able to meet likeminded people was a nicely added bonus. “Oh, my gosh. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to throw it right at you,” the brunette gasped, startled by the sudden movement on the other end of multiple floating silvery objects as she was trying to navigate her way through the still foreign room. Somehow, one of the balloons had managed to escape her. “I’m still trying to find my way around here.”
WHILE Liam had been hanging out at The Factory for a while now, it was still one of those places where he felt surrounded by people that were better than him. Being around other artists was always like that though. He was talented, sure, but there was always someone else that was just as talented. That’s what drove him to be better and try harder. Liam loved hanging out here though because he sometimes felt alone. Whenever he was at his parent’s his dad never understood him. And that was why he rarely did that these days. The Silver Ballroom was inspiring as always. Liam’s brain had about a thousand different song ideas going throuh his mind. He was lost in thought when something hit him. “It’s okay,” Liam said, looking up to see who was talking. “It’s cool. Don’t worry. You’ll figure out your way around soon enough.” Clearly she was new. “So I’m not just some random guy, I’m Liam. Though you’re more than welcome to call me random dude if you want.”

BIOGRAPHY
liam is the middle child of three born to the mercier family. his mother, candice malone is an actress, she’s famous, but famous in a way that saoirse ronan is. her movies are always a tad bit quirky and a little bit unusual or period drama. liam’s dad is the ceo of the mercier corp. liam has no idea what his dad does. theodore is never home and when he is, he’s not really home because he’s always in his office. his parents are married, but his mom just uses her stage name. his dad is american-canadian, so liam was actually born in canada (only because his mom was filming).
he has two siblings. an older sister and a younger sister. he’s very close to both of them, despite their different interests. they’re all artistic, but none of liam’s siblings are into music like he is. which brings up another point: his father absolutely hates that he’s not busisness minded. theodore hates that all of his children are artistic.
liam was home schooled until high school, but like home schooled in the sense that he just had tutors that helped with school work, rather than going to an actual school. this was mostly because his family moved around so much. whenever his mother was shooting, liam went to live with his dad. but when she wasn’t shooting, they went from their la house to their nyc penthouse or overseas.
it wasn’t until high school that liam was like “okay enough of this” and asked to go to a regular school. liam was your typical shy, loner kid for a bit. like most people just thought he was a weird scholarship kid that didn’t fit in, until people found out who his parents were. he went from group to group for a while, but it was when he met henry that he acually found a solid group of people to hang around.
liam first realized his love for music when he was little, like seven years old and from then on he knew that’s what he wanted to do. he plays several instruments, drums, piano & keyboard, and guitar. he absolutely adores playing the keyboard, but will play anything, as long as he’s playing music or listening to it he’s happen. he literally doesn’t even care that the band isn’t popular or isn’t signed, liam just wants to play music.
when he graduated high school, he had two decisions to make: julliard or nyu for business school. his dad was pressuring him to go to business school. he decided neither of those options were what he wanted and instead he went to tour with the band which pissed his father off and liam got cut off.
when he finished the tour, liam and his dad made a compromise: if liam got a degree in business, his dad would be okay with the band thing until liam graduated. so, of course as a broke ass kid, he made the deal. liam’s at nyu now. and he’s half listening to his father, studying both business and music theory and composition. his dad’s paying for everything, but liam’s making a point to do his own thing. he’s a part time bartender and a full time student and with the band, liam doesn’t have much time to himself. he’s literally. alway. on. the. go.
CONNECTIONS
im pretty shit at these, so sorry if they’re basic:
roommate(s) / 2 / he and like 3 people share a house because he’s trying to do things on his own as much as possible, so his dad doesn’t get mad when he doesn’t go into business. lmao
best friends / ??? / he’s kind of a nerdy dork once you get to know him. music, video games, etc. so literally anyone that wants to wax poetic about any of those subjects
ex / 1 / he’s had ONE (1) significant relationship and he’s still pretty new to dating obviously. the one person he did date was not really even a real relationship ??? like it was two awkward teens in their first relationship.
uhhh, i told you im bad at these. that’s all ive got for specifics, but come at me with anything
