Okay, but hear me out.

On a visual level, Yuugi is shorter than Ed, and they share complementary styles of ostentatious dressing. You can't tell me that Yuugi's black leather outfit doesn't mesh well with the red cape and black outfit combo.

On a personal level...Yuugi is gentle, patient, and kind... but not weak. He's the kind of guy who will go above and beyond for his loved ones, and is kind of a friendship goblin. Not even Ed could keep this guy's rainbow energy back, even when he goes into his darkest feelings. Yuugi is the kind of person who will listen quietly to your problems with no judgment, offering a warm smile and a quick game to distract you.

Meanwhile Ed is the kind of person Yuugi is drawn to: bright, boisterous, with big ambitions and a bigger heart. His alchemy would dazzle him, and his scientific mind would fascinate him. He would also absolutely crush him in games and make Ed pout.

And can you imagine the awkward flirting???
