Paris can seem like a bubble within a bubble.

That is to say there are many Paris'.

There is the Paris that only tourists want to see and the Paris that Woody Allen would have you believe. Legendary areas like Saint-Germain-des-Prés have become a sad caricature of itself.

There is the 'Paris' of the ever expanding suburbs with all the everyday problems of urban jungle decay, rising housing prices, small squalid flats, and long travel delays.

Then there is the Paris L'ille Saint-Louis. It is the smile of Paris. It's isolated and quiet and discreet. The place many secretly long to live but few can afford. But you don't have to live there to at least escape there. If only to make frequent expeditions for ice cream at Berthillon.

I do love living in Paris but like a typical Parisienne I will proclaim my love for Paris but my disdain for other Parisiens :)

I used to be so quick to say 'quel beauf!' when I saw someone commit some social faux pas. Truth be told, I just can't wait to get away from Paris and travel. I can find life socially stifling in the closed circles one travels. 

On Monday you can meet a pearl twiddling stiff necked society hostess at a dinner party and whose opinions makes you want to vomit. But by Friday see the same bitch with her head between some woman's legs or mounted on a cock in an exclusive sex and champagne Le club échangiste.
