~Premier Empire~ Our Newest Irish Cob Stallion from @vermutandherring, One of our youngest riders Katie has taken a liking to him. Premier Empire was bought to be our new Hunter Jumper and eventually a stud for our Irish draught/Irish cob breeding program. He seems to really love our paddock paradise set up! When not in training he loves roaming free and just getting to be a horse!

~A Nice little ride on the trails with Rain and her paint horse, Hot chocolate. I brought Stormfire along, only his second trail ride. He's such a natural already. Couldn't ask for better weather or company.~
TS4 Equine Genetics Overhaul: a project announcement
Hello, my fellow horse girls.
Did Horse Ranch promise you the world, then break your heart with its lacklustre forethought for the horse breeding system?
Did you start a legacy breeding farm save, only for things to get boring really fast when you realized foals are just copies of one of their parents?
Well, hopefully that will be no more! I have officially begun developing an Equine Genetics Overhaul mod that takes the patterns and colors of parent A and mixes them thoroughly with parent B, to create an offspring unlike any you've seen before.
Details under the cut!
EGO: Advanced coat inheritance for TS4 horses
Who are you?
Hi! I'm aali. I'm an electrical engineering major, character artist, and horse enthusiast. Dare I say, an equestrian. Or horse girl. Whatever. Point is, I'm a big horse freak and I've worked with them for a while now. I want to bring equine genetics to The Sims 4 as a personal passion project.
What is the goal of this mod?
In the first public release, EGO will hook onto the birth of a foal and re-roll their coat according to parent genetics, swapping coat colors between the parent horses and passing down patterns.
Is this actually possible?
Yeah, and it's way easier than you think! Horse coats are stored as layers, not one flat image. Mixing genetics is as simple as extracting the color of one pattern and applying it to the foal's inherited pattern. That is the quick and dirty, very simplistic version, though I'd, of course, love to refine the idea further.
Additionally, since this mod can go through a lot of development before adding custom content, it should have a very low risk to your save files! All it does is use in-game variables and resources to re-assign CAS data.
Current development endeavors have successfully proven that horses can have custom coat layer information from two different horses applied in-game. See the example below.
How can I support you?
For now, keep an eye on my blog! Any mod updates I will post here. You can ask me questions and follow me to see what I'm doing. Or not :D
🎯 MOD GOALS
Short-Term
Mix colors from both parents
Initiate re-coating directly after birth(preserving internal game genetics logic, for safety)
Mid-Term
Mix patterns and colors from both parents
Add chance of an unrelated pattern adding or replacing a coat layer
Introduce color mixing/color drift
Handle paint layers differently
Long-Term
Reduce ugliness of game-generated foals(things will no doubt get... weird). Or, maybe I'll embrace it.
Introduce a white marking system that mimics real-life genetics(overo, tobiano, splash, etc)
a separate, full realistic rehaul of the horse genetics system, featuring base coats, dilutions, roan/rabico, pattern genes(like apaloosa), and markings
Tune this mod for dogs/cats (it probably already works for them)
---> consider this to be a FAR in the future possibility, not something I can currently dangle over your head.
Thanks for listening! I'll be sure to keep you guys updated on my progress. That's all for now!
Equus-Sims Realistic Default Override Coat Texture for Horses & Foals
The first step in my Master Plan™ for making pretty horses simpler and more convenient for everyone: default coat overrides that do most of the work for you + two base templates for both adults and foals.
• GENTLE EYES
• MIDAS TOUCH
• BOMBAY ROYAL
• SAR BABILI
• PREMIER EMPIRE
• PRINCE SKYLINE
IMPORTANT
• I used body and head replacement by WalnutHill. If you already have any kind of replacement, you should either delete it or just don't download the ones in the archives.
• If the eyelashes in the 'feathers' section, any kind of leg wrapping gonna hide them.
• Marwari and Arabian use body/head meshes which are actually the accessories, so if you use accessory from that category, it will replace the body and head.
• If you keep Arabian's head from the mod, use bridles without noseband, otherwise they gonna look odd.
Thanks to @rembrandtdesigns @pure-winter-cc SchrodCat CC @objuct @pixelpony-cc for their mods.
Seems like TS4 equestrian community has died really fast for some reason. But I can't resist the urge to make pretty ponies from time to time, uuh 😞
