Willingham Sends Fables Into the Public Domain

Here, below, is the press release I sent out today to explain what I did and why.

Since I can’t afford to sue DC, to force them to live up to the letter and the spirit of our long-time agreements; since even winning such a suit would take ridiculous amounts of money out of my pocket and years out of my life (I’m 67 years old, and don’t have the years to spare), I’ve decided to take a different approach, and fight them in a different arena, inspired by the principles of asymmetric warfare. The one thing in our contract the DC lawyers can’t contest, or reinterpret to their own benefit, is that I am the sole owner of the intellectual property. I can sell it or give it away to whomever I want. I chose to give it away to everyone. If I couldn’t prevent Fables from falling into bad hands, at least this is a way I can arrange that it also falls into many good hands. Since I truly believe there are still more good people in the world than bad ones, I count it as a form of victory.

Announcement: Icon commissions open

This is really quick, but I am in yet another emergency bind. Without getting into details, car got fucked again. I'm only going to do avatars, PFPs, and icons, as these are fast and can be delivered the same day, and you can order more and more of them in batches if money is an issue.

[Hey, ya'll! I'm finally doing something I've said I wanted to try for a while: writing commissions, along with some bonus editing and proofreading services! 🎉🎉

As many of you know, I recently moved to California and am now on my own for the first time in a good while. Currently, I'm in between jobs while I try to focus on building some kind of career in writing, meaning I don't currently have an income. While I have some savings still to pay rent, I could use a little bit of help earning a bit of cash to help cover other expenses like bills, groceries, and taking care of my sweet baby angel, Botan. “Do you think that Crane is a little creepy or is just me?” The girl whispered with a giggle as she sat next to the Green- flying- monkey, watching as the three adults converse with each other from their hiding spot. She looked over to him, spotting the wine bottle tucked under his wing. “Bufkin…” she whispered, but it came out as more of a defeated sigh. “You know you shouldn’t have that.” ( @mymyfatherwhatbigearsyouhave ) [ep 1~ Cranes office ]

Bufkin wasn't paying attention at all, looking fearfully at Crane as he argued with the sherriff and Miss Snow, an everyday occurrence but one that Bufkin still found intimidating. Many times, after a month working alongside Ichabod Crane as the official librarian, it became routine for the winged monkey to steal that grumpy old man's wine.

Lia's louder, more severe whisper made him wake up from his panic, watching her now as she points to that bottle of grape-flavored wine.

"Uh…uh! I know, Miss Lia, but uh-" Bufkin tries to come up with a good excuse for his crime, although to him, isn't not. "Did you… ask me something?" changing the subject would make Lia ignore the theft.

Lia sighed, knowing his tricks but deciding to let it go. He didn’t really listen to her anyway.

    “I said, Don’t you think Crane is a little creepy? Not to mention kind of scary..” she spoke softly, voice barely above a whisper as watched the adults continue to argue. She was honestly used to the constant bickering, usually caused by Crane. However, she still found it all to be rather annoying and ridiculous. 

  She scoffed, shaking her head at the three of them. Crane was so obnoxious, and she hated how he talked to Her father and Snow. “How is it that he gets to be in charge of all of us? It just isn’t right..”

"Believe me, Miss Lia, that's something I ask myself every day…"

Bufkin looks at the group again, without stopping watching the skinny old man " Due to your hours outside the office you don't see him or you don't hear him, but at all hours I get to hear the dirtiest things that not even the wildest animals I've ever seen. known in my long life they never said, especially when we talk about a man talking to a lady like Miss Snow. That's why you have my full support in your judgment, Lia"

Crane leaves the office, Bigby seems to want to approach him but Snow stops him.

"However, neither I, nor you, or Bigby, or Miss Snow can do anything about it. Mr. Crane is a man of law and words, an office fit for a status such as his and that no other fable could hold, or we know so far. Who knows, maybe one day a new mayor will come to this small town…"

"But for now, my biggest distraction will be doing my typical drinking game while listening to every grotesque comment from him."
