This is a personal post, but I am imploring and begging all of you to meet trans women in your real life. Knowing trans women made me the man I am. I owe everything in my life to trans women. I am begging you to learn the name of a trans woman living today in your community. I am so grateful to the trans community and the trans women in my life for giving me a safe place to exist truthfully as I am.
I was at a dinner table with an assortment of boomers and one of them said, “I’m so glad I haven’t met anyone like that, so that I don’t have to deal with it”.
And that’s the fucking problem! First, it’s insane to think you can clock every trans person and somehow have moved through your life never interacting or meeting any. Second, so you’re just going about your day with these ideas of what trans people are based on… nothing? Like literally nothing?

I see a lot of folks defending their vitriolic repugnance towards toddlers with cries of "but my sensory needs!" as if children are not also in possession of sensory needs. As if you, an adult here on Tumblr.com, do not have the capability and resources to learn the skills or acquire aids for coping with competing access needs. Or, y'know, just the option to leave, the way children most often do not.
You're holding an actual child to higher standards than you hold yourself, but it's the child that should be removed from public and community spaces. For your comfort.
