Cat gone missing? You can pray for her safe return at Sanko Inari Jinja (三光稲荷神社) in Ningyōchō. Or rather, since the shrine is so small that it doesn’t have a resident priest, you can complete the forms left at the shrine and submit them at a nearby pharmacy (instructions in last photo).
The shrine is in a neighbourhood that used to be home to several famous kabuki actors, and you can still find many kimono shops and apparel headquarters in the area. (Read more about Ningyōchō’s history in this article.)

生剥 (Namahage)
Namahage is a Japanese ritual observed in the Oga Peninsula, Akita as a way of cleansing people’s souls and for blessing the new year. It takes place annually on Dec. 31 where young men from Akita dress like the Namahage demon to scare the lazy young children and make them follow their parents.
