Sometimes, Daniel would use the spare key to Marc's apartment for various things, whether it be help water their plants or "borrow" some of Marc's clothes. Being twins comes with perks, for sure.

Today Daniel just happened to be taking a shower, since he was having issues with hot water at his own place. As he stepped out the shower, he heard the door's multiple locks being unlocked.

Daniel came to greet his brother, only to find Marc passed out on the couch.

Well that's expected. They've been working themself to death until our break. I can make dinner, but that might wake them up. But there is something else..

Daniel quietly slipped out the apartment. About forty minutes had passed when Daniel got back. He set down a box of fresh strawberry pastries on the coffee table, and thought to chill a bit instead of leaving in case Marc wakes up.

The moment Daniel arrives at the precinct he'll find that his entire desk is covered with photos of cats and dogs. Not even a single part of the desk is visible. Gee. I wonder who did this??? I bet it's one of the detectives.

“The fuck?”

Daniel blinked in surprise when he saw his desk. He moved a few photos of a golden retriever running in the sunlight to make room for his coffee mug. Then he looked over the photos.

Cute kitty cats, puppies, dogs… he couldn’t deny the photos were great, but the more important thing is, where the hell are the case files he set on the desk last night??

He pulled out his drawer and was relieved to discover that they’re intact, stacked neatly in a pile. He also noticed that the mess from his drawer is gone, with all the stationery arranged neatly. Clearly, whoever did this also took the time to tidy up his desk a little. A tiny smile tugged at Daniel’s lips as the pieces fell into place–there’s only one person he knows who could’ve done such a thing.

He pulled out his phone, and sent a text message to Marcus:

“Saw what you did to my desk. Meet me in my office when you’re here.”
