people make no sense which is to be expected when you remember that a human is a really fucked up mouse which itself is a really fucked up lizard which itself is a really fucked up fish which itself is a really fucked up worm

Today's wasp of the day is Astichus longevittatus!

So much style in an insect only a single millimeter big! This dazzling diva is a parasitoid of beetles that make their homes within bracket fungi. They're quite a rare find though, perhaps so that we don't become too jealous of their beauty.
holy smokes
should we force that annoying mammoth company to bring back the north american locust?
yes
no

i'm glad there were no voters firmly against the revival of the north american locust, i usually value variety of opinion but not this time. i will write a letter to the annoying mammoth company and ask them them to get on it immediately as statistically there will be no opposition
Have you ever seen a tufted pygmy squirrel (Exilisciurus whiteheadi)? Found only in Borneo’s mountain forests—at elevations of more than 3,280.8 ft (1,000 m)—this tiny critter is one of the world’s smallest squirrels. It grows up to 3.4 in (8.6 cm) long. And at about 0.8 oz (22.7 g), adults typically weigh less than half a stick of butter! Easily recognizable thanks to its ear tufts, this species feeds primarily on moss and lichens.

I laughed to hard at this fucking thing.
i would go absolutely CRAZY fangirling if i ever saw a lancelet in real life i'd be like OMG its blorbo from my phylogenies
i think there's some sort of beautiful spiritual connection between small animals that chirp. crickets, frogs, birds, and chipmunks, and etc. are all the same genre of fairy if that makes sense.
can i drop out & become a giant bug & chew on people instead of whatever this is.
this except i would chew on leafs and avoid people altogether
the demon of babylon disguises himself with the coat of the righteous 😱😱😱
in relation to my previous post about weird bugs, i want to share two of my favorites.
first up is owlflies.
they're like if a dragonfly wanted to be a butterfly. they are, in fact, neither. instead, these belong to Neuroptera.
then there's the so-called toebiters or giant water bugs. this is a specimen from our lab's collection.
look at them big ol eyes
OWLFLIES MENTIONED 🦉🦉🦉 RAAAAA NEUROPTERA
if I was god I would make sure there was some sort of gigantic predatory marine crustacean that saw humans as prey and actively hunted them. shark attacks are cool but imagine if you just got snatched by a giant shrimp by one of their grabby pinchers and it just did the little tail flick and dragged you into the depths that would be so cool anyway vote me to be god in the next election
Bring back Jaekelopterus
Yes
Hell yes
yes i know its not a crustacean but its vibe is close enough
