I absolutely loved Code of Silence! And yes—Hawkeye is hard of hearing. There's actually a comic, Hawkeye #19 (2014) from the Matt Fraction run, that's entirely dedicated to sign language. The whole issue is written and drawn in ASL, and even if you don't know ASL (I don't), it's still a great read—really easy to follow. The Disney+ Hawkeye series also includes ASL and has subtitles throughout, so anyone can keep up. Brilliant show!

Could I ask, as a hard of hearing person what are your thoughts on (for lack of a better term) 'elements of deaf experience being used in fiction as a sort of every day superpower'

Eg. being able to lip read through a thick glass window, which reveals some plot relevant information. Or using sign language to communicate with their fellow prisoners. Those sorts of scenarios

I'm not sure if this is seen as a cliche and/or harmful trope or not..? I do remember there was a tv show in my country which was critically well received which featured a deaf character (played by deaf actress) who gets recruited by the police to lip read some crusty CCTV footage because she's the only one in the building who can.

Also, speaking as someone who is hard of hearing, I don’t think using lip-reading skills or sign language is cliché at all. To me, they’re a superpower. They’re incredible communication tools that allow people to connect, understand, and navigate situations in ways others often don’t even realise. Seeing those skills represented thoughtfully always feels far more authentic than relying on tired stereotypes.

Have you watched Hawkeye or Echo two Marvel shows based on actual superhero characters who have hearing difficulties. Hawkeye is hard of hearing and Echo is profoundly deaf and both use lip reading and sign language to communicate and “listen”.

I can't help but smile every time I receive a comment or piece of feedback on my fics. It truly means more than I can say. It makes a bigger difference than most readers probably realise. That encouragement is especially meaningful since my stories tend to occupy a pretty niche corner of fandom. Knowing that someone out there not only found them, but took a moment to reach out? That never gets old.

Where do I begin?!!! Played to 200 thousand people over three dates at the london stadium @westham in the blistering heat which was a challenge in itself! Undies were soaked and had to wrung out😄 Thankyou for giving us the much needed energy and love to get us energised for the show. You are amazing london and we are amazed at the shear scale of support after all these years! We will always do our best. I find it sad that we only have two shows left,Manchester then Dublin and we can’t wait to see you there. The circus will always be difficult to top and will be missed!
