The #80s in a nutshell
Me after watching, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live tonight
CONFESSION:
My cat was diagnosed with lung cancer today 3/10/2024. Nothing can be done to stop it. I'm looking through photos of him this eve & found a bunch of him sitting around my desk and even on my head while I played DAO & DA2. DAI wasn't out yet. Time with someone you love is so precious. I'd give ANYTHING to go back in time and be with him while I gamed for thousands of hours. He'd even sandwich himself between my back & the chair and nap. I love my cat so much. He's even named after a minor character in 1st game. I never had much money for pc's, so I had to play DAI on my old PS3. I have pics of him laying on my bed while I played that! I don't know how to let him go. If anyone suspects their cat has a severe hairball or asthma, get an x-ray asap. Bloodwork didn't show anything. This started about 1.5 months ago, and now I have to be parted from him this week and can't stop crying.
Dear Confessor,
As a cat owner I just wanted to send you my sympathy and to let you know I 100% understand how you are feeling. I've grown up with pets my whole life and its painful to lose them. This is my cat and he's going to be 15 this year. I got him around the time of Origins. He used to bat the screen with his paws when certain scenes came up when I was playing. He still likes hang out with us when we play games and he provides a calming influence. Cry as much as you need to! There is nothing wrong with that. And keep all those memories in your heart.

Confessor, I'm sending my thoughts to you and I will be giving my boys extra hugs today.

Itâs back!!!đđ»đđ»đđ»
So, it should be pretty obvious by now that I'm firmly against fans boycotting Bioware and Dreadwolf due to the layoffs. I'll put it in business terms. I've worked for Fortune 500 companies, and I speak from that perspective.
The people who made it are hoping, and have said, that they hope people will love Dreadwolf as much as they do. Even when they were laid off.
It would punish the creatives who made the game far more than it would punish Bioware. They likely can't even talk about it due to NDAs unless/until it's released. Can you imagine not being able to talk about a thing you loved and poured years of your life, creativity, and passion into? I can. It would be heartbreaking.
I don't want to be responsible for harming people who love dragon age enough to make it for us. If I boycott, that's exactly what I'd be partially responsible for. I'm usually very pro-boycott, but in this case, I'm not.
So here's the question... we unequivocally live in a late stage capitalist nightmare world. Do you know how many other companies have laid off employees this year?
I can still love Baldur's Gate 3 and Dragon Age at the same time. It doesn't matter who did it better or who did it first. All that matters is that my appetite for sassy elves remains sated.
randomly curious if im weird or if people are like me
if you're 20+ what do you usually watch on youtube?
influencers
commentary channels
video essays
music videos/solely for music
product/media reviews
secret 6th option (put in tags)
not 20+ / don't use youtube (results)
Solo Travel Japan. Solo Solo Travel Japan. Emmymade, along with a few other cooking blogs. Also the occasional game youtube for help
These are the moments that make it all worthwhile.
MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA -> (6/?)
CONFESSION:
Honestly I am skeptical of the next game. I mean I am glad they are making another but my guess is they will pander to those fans who can't let go of Shepard. And one option they could likely do is there will be another Shepard clone that Liara had hidden. She'll defrost the clone and while it will look and sound like Shepard, it won't have any memories of Shepard and will have to forge their own identity and that is how the developers will sell it to the fans. And the 600 year old Liara will spew some excuse on why she never revealed anything about the clones even after the events of the citadel dlc. As a society we have been brainwashed to accept and demand sequel after sequel. Ryder was not perfect but the characters had potential. I'd rather see both the trilogy and Andromeda connected in some way or a completely different story.Â
I can see Liara when finding out about the Andromeda Initiative secretly stows a Shepard Clone in there along with a recorded message for them to listen to
Mark Darrah's youtube of fandom toxicity. This is a very interesting video that goes into the history of the fandom.
Everybody in the fandom should watch this!
50 WORDS TO USE INSTEAD OFÂ âSAIDâ
Do you ever find yourself over-using the word âsaidâ in your writing? Try using these words/phrases instead:

proposed
chatted
lied
rambled
talked
pointed out
blurted out
chimed in
brought up
wondered aloud
(NOTE: Keep in mind that all of these words have slightly different meanings and are associated with different emotions/scenarios.)
Also remember that âsaidâ is invisible on the page, and that you arenât ever overusing âsaidâ, even if youâre scared you are.
You could write a novel using nothing but âsaidâ to indicate that people are speaking and nobody will ever notice, complain, or think youâre a lazy writer.
A sad story told entirely in tweets
I donât agree entirely with this, but a lot of it rings very true for me.
Me after trying to explain certain things to people
You are never to old to learn or change your behavior but there are always a few who refuse to learn or change.
CONFESSION:
It's normal and healthy for fans to have critiques of Dragon Age -- we all have things that we like or dislike. But there's a difference between feedback and blaming "lazy devs." Devs work themselves to exhaustion trying to go the extra mile for players. Often, I've learned that features that I didn't enjoy weren't easy choices -- they were just the best options available at the time. People need to be less dismissive and more understanding.
This. I think many people live in a fantasy world when it comes to game development and they have no idea how difficult it can be
CONFESSION:
I've been a fan of every single Mass Effect game and if there is one thing I learned about this fandom is that if there was an alien character and a human character who had the exact same annoying and or negative behavior, the alien character's behavior would get ignored or excused while human character would becondemned beyond the point of no return.
For the exact same evil deed, assholery, sin committed, alien characters will ALWAYS get a pass whereas human characters will ALWAYS be crucified without mercy. Now I love ALL of the alien races but I will NEVER understand how some fans will praise a characterâs behavior because theyâre from another planet and then in the next sentence theyâll blame a Human who behaves exactly the SAME way. Its mind boggling hypocrisy to me.
iThough nobody will likely admit it, this is pretty much true. I mean if it had been Garrus with the migraines in ME1, people would have have never said anything.
