For people that like to l1ft at 1ulu 🍋 stores, I happen to know someone who works corporate and filled me in on their software.
Just as a note, this is the corporate side and they use this software for all stores internationally. This doesn't incorporate mall LP as they work separately for apprehending.
Lu1u staff document all activity from suspicious persons, tags left in change rooms/inside pockets of clothes, to reoccurring people that successfully l1ft.
There's no advance tech that assists, it's mostly based off floor staff and using in store cameras. I saw some of the reported incidents and they differ by each store. Some people report the bare minimum and some people go to the extent of reporting people's full appearances, height, age. (Mainly estimates)
I've seen reports from $50 to $1000 in product being documented. If they dont have a culprit, they just report for shrinkage for corporate. but if they have a repeated suspect, they add the $ total for this person. I don't know the threshold but higher values = reason to look at cameras.
Standalone stores (not part of the mall) I assumr are handled internally and most likely call 🚨. However, I couldn't find any incidents that had any successful stops to confirm.
I still believe the best method is removing $ecurity tags (hook key) and price tags (RFID) in the change room (leave no evidence). Even though now they ask for your name (obvs provide fake) and while in the change room they actually write timestamps on the door. However it still leaves them with barely anything to document and no suspects. Just dont be greedy in value and given the reason to look at the cameras.
