The clock struck 1am. Lizette had decided to take a walk to the park with Lyla, her dog, in hopes of clearing her mind. Everything thatâs happened in this town seemed so .. unreal. Like somehow this was all a nightmare. She sat on the bench with Lyla in her lap; petting her and giving her little kisses on the top of her head.
There was a slight breeze that quickly picked up onto a wind which caused rainfall -- It was time to go. Liz and Lyla began to walk home. Lightning struck, causing Lyla to take off running. She tried to run after her but failed to catch her. The brunette fell to her knees, now getting soaked by the rain. The sound of thunder caused her to glance up.
There he was -- the masked man.
He held a machete in one hand, slowly making his way to her. The dirt under her caused her to slip around but she was determined to get away  ... it was too slippery. Her determination was too little and her fatigue was too strong. She laid on her back, waiting for the man. âYou win.â She said to him; her tears got washed away by the rain. Lizette was looking at the mask. Her fear and anxiety were so high that she was .. calm. This was going to be downfall. Here. At the park. In the dirt. While it rained. âBurn in hell.â
And with that. She was gone.
