It took a moment before Warren fully realized what had happened, even then, he found it hard to believe. Did she justโ hit him? It wasnโt as if the impact had hurt at all; any pain was more like the annoyance of a persistent fly. But if he hadnโt had any proof that she didnโt have all her marbles, this was it. โIโโ Warren began, before cutting himself off. He was not going to cause a scene tonightโ the goal was to socialize, not attract attention to himself by having an argument with a tiny island girl. Taking a deep breath, he forced a smile, more for his sake than Justiceโs.
โWell, it appears weโre being enticed to come back inside.โ he said, with all of the politeness he could muster. โDo you want to go back in, Liz?โ He was surprised that Lizette hadnโt been run off by Justiceโs unsolicited appearance; he wouldโve have ghosted minutes ago. Then again, the only reason Warren wanted to run in the other direction every time Justice came around was because she was intent on finding out information that could land him in jail.
Liz rose her eyebrows at the smacking sound. It was nice to have company with her โ - it was like she was alone but not really alone. Being outside had helped a ton.ย โYeah, I wouldnโt mind going back in.โ She upturned the corners of her lips. Warren seemed impatient to Liz, like he desperately wanted to go.ย โSounds like the partyโs getting good in there.โ
It sounded exactly the same. The music was still muffled and the partyers were still cheering and talking loudly. However, now that she had calmed down, Liz thought now sheโd be able to go back in and enjoy the party.
( โโ- That was right, ย Patrick swazye over there, had ย better, keep his mouth shut. Sheโd gone easy on him after all.ย โGreat, Iโll see you both inside then.โ Because believe it or not, Justice did in fact have better things to do than socialize tonight, butting into their conversation had been a part of her job, not like either of them were permitted to know that, ย E S P E C I A L L Y Warren (oh what wonders a fake mustache could do). He was small time game compared to what could happen tonight, so one eye on him and the other on everyone else would have to do. Sliding her hands into her pockets, Justice offered Liz a nod, rocking back on a heel.ย โIn there? This ainโt shit, you should have seen the parties I went to--at least they fed you at those.โ A party wasnโt a party unless there were pots of rice, macaroni pie and jerk chicken stocked on a few tables. But each their own. Turning, short legs began to guide the way back to masses, the rhythmic boom growing louder as she approached the doors.
