22.12.16 and 1.1.17 Last night in Paris and New Year’s in Germany
22.1.27| Waves at Inis Mor, Ireland
I tried to inconspicuously follow an Irish girl and her Italian friends as we biked around the island, but when she noticed me, she invited me along and we had an amazing adventure on the cliffs, getting lost in cow pastures, and finally finding this beautiful little cove, the Wormhole.
I'm not keeping the picture there because it doesn't fit with the rest of my desk, but I stuck it there because look at this bubblegum corner
i think everyone has a color that they wish they could surround themselves in because it’s comforting to them. what’s yours
reading lyra erso’s wookieepedia page got me lowkey upset because she is way cooler there than she was allowed to be in the movie:
was the one who suspected things Weren’t Right with orson and convinced galen to dip out on the empire
gave birth in prison
was an incredibly awesome geologist who headed a survey team
expert on kyber crystal cave systems like what kind of esoteric amazingness
was really good at languages, and served as a translator between galen + the vallti when they were Conducting Research
loved the natural world and studied jedi philosophy and history as an extension of that
potentially followed the church of the force/wore the red sash / was extremely spiritual
basically i need more of this intelligent, granola, jedi-spiritual geologist because the movie did her dirty

Venezia’s Hidden History and Little-Known Locales
Directed by Oliver Astrologo and Nils Astrologo, ‘Venezia’ ventures deep into the hidden history and little-known locales of one of the world’s most magical cities. Produced in partnership with rené caovilla, a master Venetian shoemaker, the film journeys above the city’s terracotta terrain, through its crystal blue canals, and inside its otherwise unknown workshops. Astrologo adventures to capture the everyday life of venice’s inhabitants, where original gondola wooden oars are still crafted by hand and luxurious fabrics are carefully woven on handlooms.

So, do it. Decide. Is this the life you want to live? Is this the person you want to love? Is this the best you can be? Can you be stronger? Kinder? More compassionate? Decide. Breathe in. Breathe out and decide.

21/10/16. (I didn’t originally intend for this blog to become study oriented, and I still definitely will post travel pics. I’ve just found that making studying pretty is a great way to motivate myself and tumblr is a way to keep track of my personal progress.) Anyways, I’m doing a presentation for one of my classes tomorrow at the Louvre, and I’m hella nervous even though it’s only in front of my professor and like five students.

3.09.16// I had a moment of sorts today at the at Chantily castle when I stopped in front of this painting, Le concert champêtre by Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot. One of my professors had mentioned he liked to analyze literature using works of art from completely different cultures and time periods. I didn't understand what he meant at the time, but when I saw this particular painting, I immediately thought of a scene in our summer reading book (Fantasia by Assia Djebar), where the Muslim women go to a secluded beach where they can remove their veils and swim away from the men's eyes. Obviously this painting is of very different people and likely a different time, but the women depicted here have there dresses hanging loosely off their shoulders and are playing music under the trees and admiring the water. It's the same state of mind as the book passage. I now completely understand what he meant, and not only does studying art along with literature give a visual picture to go along with the text, but studying seemingly unrelated art connects us to people from seemingly unreachable backgrounds. (Also featuring my almost too pretty to eat strawberry tart!)
1.09.16// I've started my new adventure in Paris and I'm already missing the waves of Lake Superior ❤️
when i was about 8 (bearing in mind deathly hallows was released when i was about 15) i wrote a harry potter fanfiction where harry and ginny where married and it was the morning of the september 1st and they were taking their 3 kids to the platform to meet ron, hermione, and their kids. i dont remember what the weasley kids were called, but i do remember that harrys kids were called lily, james, and for some reason mercury bob. i dont know why mercury bob, but i do know its still less stupid than albus severus.
