People call valid criticisms “kink shaming” but “kinks” don’t exist in a vacuum, and nobody is systemically marginalized for them.

In our culture where rape is a porn category and where patriarchy and misogyny exist, it is necessary to be critical and look into WHY power roles and subordination are sexualized. So many “kinks” involve racism, sexual violence, pedophelia, and abuse. The sexual appetite for these elements are influenced by our culture, and then commodified (porn) and then ingrained (look at the number of young people who learn about sex from porn), creating more of a market, and a cycle that teaches rape culture as being something normal. Being critical of these things has nothing to do with “slut-shaming” (important concept with an awful name) or sex negativity.
