i still don’t get how there’s even an argument about asexuality being inherently lgbt because… whatever grievances cishet ace/aro ppl get about being ace/aro is not comparable to the oppression that lgbt get about being lgbt
like it’s just such an obvious thing to think about that i don’t get how people don’t realize that “aphobia” isn’t at all comparable to homophobia and transphobia.
whereas searching for “countries where asexuality is illegal” or something similar provides no relevant results, because there are no countries where asexuality is criminalized. and the argument of “well that’s just because they don’t know about asexuality at least they know about gay and trans people” is not only homophobic/transphobic as hell, but makes no sense either. no one is discriminating against you, why do you want them to?
i often see inclusionists say stuff like we’re saying cishet aces “aren’t queer enough to be lgbt” or some other nonsense, but at some level it’s correct because, they literally do not face this. they do not face job discrimination, they do not face workplace discrimination, they do not face housing discrimination, they are not at risk of being executed for their asexuality, they aren’t at risk of being arrested for their asexuality, you can say that we should stop trying to make things an oppression Olympics, but part of being lgbt is being opressed. it is a community comprised of people oppressed under homophobia (including biphobia) and transphobia (including nb-phobia). not anyone else.
