Genuine question

How do people commit to writing long fics? (I'm talking anything above 50k words tbh)

I have so many ideas for things I want to write but I don't have the first clue on how to properly plan it out. Sometimes I write a few thousand words and never continue because I suddenly lose all motivation to do so

I know posting helps, but I like to go back to edit things and I don't feel comfortable sharing unfinished work anyway

If my chem were planets

Frank would be Uranus cuz I think he'd find that hilarious

Gerard would be Pluto cuz he'd feel bad for the little guy not being recognized as a planet anymore

Ray would be Saturn because I say so

And Mikey, well, obviously Mikey has to be the entire Milky Way

Dunno if the context will be any help, but I'm thinking of writing be more chill (musical) with an mcr cast and I want Gee to be the squip for Frank, but Gee also fits for Christine, so I was thinking maybe Illi

Altho Gee as mc with Mikey as Squip and Frank as Michael would be a vibe too

First time hitting 10k words in a fic I'm working on and I'm lowkey scared

Little snippet of what I'm working on currently;

4:23am. Frank glares at the glowing red numbers of his alarm clock and rolls over, shoving his pillow over his head in the process but it's no use. While the cushion blocks out most of the noise, he can still feel the vibrations travel up the wall and into his room, making his own bed tremble lightly with a steady thump thump thump. He grits his teeth and rolls onto his back to glare at the vast darkness of his room.

It's been, what, three weeks? maybe more in which Frank has barely gotten a wink of sleep. Not even coffee is strong enough to keep him awake anymore and his music suffers greatly from his lack of focus. How could he write anything of use when his mind is constantly caught on that — There it is; a long, drawn out moan echoes through the air of Frank's small apartment. Silence follows and for just a moment, Frank can feel relief taking over his body, muscles relaxing into the soft foam of his mattress while the lids of is eyes glue themselves together. The blissful blanket of sleep tugs at Frank's mind and he is just about to let it drag him under when another noise, more high pitched this time than usual, once again breaks what little peace Frank calls his own.

That's it, he thinks and throws off his blanket before he jumps out of bed and stomps out of his bedroom toward the front door. He barely has the mind to slip on some shoes and then he's out the door and down a flight of stairs, his footsteps still resonating through the hallways even when he has stopped at the apartment door right beneath his own.

Thinking of writing a frerard fanfic where one of them is on the ace spectrum but in the way I feel about being ace

It would be mostly a self-indulgent exploration of dealing with sexuality, especially when you have a partner. So yes, this fic will also include smut

It would be written mostly for myself, but I'd still like to know if anyone would be interested

My favorite part about being a creative is that I get to write all the frerard fanfiction my heart desires

Stomachaches, to me, feels like a relationship, complete with heartbreak so bad it's like a physical pain

You just had a fight, so as you're pacing the apartment you can hear the faint sound of singing and, as you approach, angry at first, you hesitate. You lean against the door and listen to the soft sound of a voice, the strumming of a guitar and so, instead of storming into the room, you slide down with your back against the door and listen.

With each song there is love, regret, passion, hurt and so many emotions that when the final note rings out you don't feel angry anymore. Both of you are fucked up and you know you made a mistake, you just don't know how to fix it.

Now you're left with a choice; you could stay and do nothing, you could leave and keep suffering or you could take action.

So you stand and knock on the door.
