It’s the choice that you have to wake up every day and say “there’s no reason today can’t be the best day of my life”.
jonathan-quinn:
“Cocky or not, doesn’t mean I’m wrong though” Jonathan replied with a smirk on his face. He wanted to keep asking thing’s and get a feel for her. How much was real or for his own benefit. How much info can he leak without actually giving anything away. “ Nights too early to tell, sorry. Ask again later” He added as his smirk only grew. “ Oh really? Name how?” He asked before nodding his head a moment in appreciation for her actually not prying onto his own life. The assassin shook his head at Lila’s gesture, but maintained a look of amusement on his features. “ There was a time” He smirked only giving the tiniest sense of himself to her . He raised a brow however at her tossing fries around and gave her a smirk in response. “ Are you always this way or is it more like expensive drinks and living in excess normally?’
“Doesn’t mean you’re right either. If I had an agenda, don’t you think I’d be on the hunt for a bigger fish?” Lillian arched a perfectly shaped eyebrow, taking a sip of her beer. Still, it wasn’t an answer to THE question but she reminded him of the ugly truth-- a high-ranking mafia member wouldn’t waste time on an assassin. “Hate to break it to you but tonight’s all about pleasure, you’re not my job.” At least not for the time being. That being said, she scooted closer to the man to prove her next point, her gaze never leaving his. The blonde extended her hand towards him but did not touch him yet. “Hm, for one we could arm wrestle. Second, I could definitely, absolutely defeat you some other way, using my charm.” There was a time. Lillian gave a soft, barely noticeable nod. There was a time for her too, a more peaceful time. “Do you miss it?” Lillian glanced at him. “I know I do, I was much happier once upon a time,” she was grateful for the shadow falling on her face and covering her somewhat wistful smile before she turned to the screen once more. “I’m a Solano, Jonathan. Expensive drinks, sparkly gowns and living in excess-- that’s supposed to be my reality and most of the time it is. Doesn’t mean it’s always the right fit for me, so here we are, doing what feels right.”
juliannaross:
Julianna wasn’t ignoring bad omens. She didn’t believe in them anyway. She wasn’t uncertain about a thing regarding Zelda. In fact, if there was anything in the world she was certain about, it was that she wanted to and was going to marry Zelda, and they would be together and they would be happy… just as soon as she sorted this thing out with her father. She couldn’t help but laugh, honestly, which was actually a rather nice feeling considering the shit day she’d been having so far. Trust Lillian Solano to bring that out in her. “What do you want to talk about?” Julianna asked her, still with a ghost of a smile on her face. “Did you really come here because you want to have a nice chat about my wedding? Zelda’s really the person to talk to about that.” She was much more interested in the details. Julianna just wanted to be married.
Lillian observed Julianna’s perfectly neutral expression but there was no doubt in her tired gaze, not even a flicker of it. What a shame. Much to her own surprise, a laugh bubbled out of Julianna then and, to hide her own smile, Lila brought the glass to her lips but didn’t take a sip just yet-- not before a toast. “It is nice to hear you laugh.” A beat as she clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth, averting her gaze. “Wish I could tell you it’ll get easier but I think we both know it won’t.” As long as this war between families was raging on and as long as there was no end in sight. The youngest Solano was painfully aware she or people she cared for the most-- her family-- might just be the cause of Julianna’s misery the next time they spoke. “I came here to talk to you, Julianna. Thankfully I’m an intelligent creature, able to talk just about anything-- including the woman you’re in love with. You should know however, I’ll still be secretly hoping you fall in love with me tonight, suggest we lock the door and break this desk of yours.” The last part came out in a chirping tone as Lillian teased some more, being completely honest about how mischievous her imagination could get. “That, however, is a problem of mine,” she added with a smirk before raising a glass. “What should we drink to? Your wedding? Your misery? Mine?”
luciamorcno:
While the comment had been rather light hearted in nature, after all not all women dreamed of motherhood, it took Lucia back to a rather darker time. She didn’t often let herself think about her abortion, but sometimes things pulled her into the memory and she couldn’t help thinking of it. She didn’t regret it by any means and given the choice she’d do it again, but the events that took place after truly skewed things. There was a time in her life where she was excited with the idea of possible motherhood one day, but the concept seemed so far away then and even farther now if she was honest. It was just something on the list of things she didn’t quite ask herself about and for now she’d keep it that way. There was no reason to focus on something so serious in the moment, she didn’t want to damper the mood. “ I’m guessing then sex is the one area in your life you play safe in?” Lucia joked, raising an eye brow playfully to her smirk. It was a bit of a crass joke, but something told her that Lila would pay no mind to it. At the question something clicked her mind, Lila was Lillian Solano, a fact that took her an embarassing long time to put together. She had known the name for sometime the family was very well known across the state, but paid little attention to the details though she knew she should be more aware of it considering the raising tensions in the city. There was no point in commenting, Lila probably was very used to people knowing exactly who she was, and mentioning the exact details could taint the evning.Aafter all not best for a Solano and Ross member to hang out, but they were having such a great time so far. She really liked the woman. “ You’re right, maybe it’ll do us good to keep some mystery around us.” Lucia chickled at the wiggling brows and the mouthful of a title. “ That’s a bit long, maybe shorten it to badass beauties or njbb. We could take nj from the east coast that way.” She suggested calling back to earlier.
“Play safe? It’d be smart of me to do so, no?” An echoing laughter followed, tearing itself from her lips. As reasonable as her words seemed, it was evident by the carefree tone of her voice that she refused to be smart in this particular case. “I’ve never been able to play it safe, unfortunately.” For better or for worse, she refused to suppress her thirst for the thrill of playing with fire. Even this very moment proved so, as Lila was one half of this unusual pairing conquering the vibrant streets of LA. “Thankfully we live in an age where I won’t be burned at the stake for using some modern solutions to take care of any problem which my recklessness might cause.” In this day and age Lila would burn at stake for different reason, if tabloids had any say in it. An amusing thought crossed her mind, the way the paparazzi scrutinized her at times really did resemble a witch trial. “What about you? Do you like to play it safe?” Having noticed a flash of recognition in her eyes, Lila averted her gaze, a small smirk playing across her lips. “If you’ve figured out what my last name is, you know I’m known for my partying ways, not for being a kind and devoted friend.” Most of Lila’s friends weren’t even her friends in the true sense of the word. They were acquaintances she happened to party with; at the end of the day the blonde's undying love and loyalty lay with her family, not anyone else. “Badass beauties it is, I appreciate the alliteration there. What’s next, matching tattoos?”

We Were Liars - E. Lockhart (via dreawritings)
henry-solano:
In hindsight, it was abundantly clear how their parents’ love was divvied up between their children. It was a matter of necessity, really. Their deceased father naturally took Adrian under his wing. His heir, his successor – it was what was needed to maintain their family’s dynasty. Meanwhile, Lillian was his golden girl. Beyond the statuesque, upper-crust beauty she had going for her. She was an intellect unparalleled to either brother. He devoted his attention to the pair, and though his love for Henry was a certainty, the underboss naturally fell to the wayside. His temper was too fiery, his behavior to rough. And who better than to soothe his rough edges, than a society matron with a tender heart for her youngest son? Still – there were moments when he envied the bond between his sister and his father. He did not share in her brilliance, or aptitude. All the same – petty grievances were just that when compared to his sister’s importance in his life. And though he would only admit it to her, and only her, she had easily claimed the role of his best friend. “I’ve given up on intimidating you since junior year of high school, when I got into that scrap down in San Diego.” At the time, the reckless athlete was known for his violent temper. But even at his worst and bloodiest, his sister saw only good. There was a comfort to being seen not for the blood on one’s hands, but the purpose behind it. As she trots backwards, he maintains an easy smile, even as his limitations kept him limping behind her. Never the less, he extends his cane, casually prodding her leg. “You’re lucky you’re not on the other end of this cane.” Despite his limitations, there was a reason he maintained his place firmly in the Solano ranks. Everyone knew his deadly skill, harnessed in the strength he continued to possess and the deadly nature of his cane. “Glad I made the cut. Though I’d be offended otherwise.” He instinctively wraps his arm around her shoulders in return, placing an affectionate kiss on the tussle of blond hair. “She might have a point,” Henry taunts, knowing it to be a sore spot for his sister. But what brother would he be, if he did not mock her misfortune? “You’re not getting any younger. We can’t have you running amok, bedding cabana boys and wannabe influencers into your forties. It’s simply not proper.” His tone was changed, mocking their mother’s high-pitched and proverbially aristocratic tone. “You were gonna wait till dessert?” Henry inquires, already reaching into his pocket and retrieving two joints. In his case, it helped with the pain that still lingered with his injury. But Henry was always one to partake himself. “Come on, she won’t see us if we get behind the damn rose bush.”
Long before Lila proclaimed Henry as her ride or die, she had found an ally in Luis Solano. The displeased look on Caroline’s face had been present all through her childhood but the reason why Lillian had never been properly disciplined was the Patriarch himself. Each time young Lila pulled off a stunt or returned home with dirt on her pastel-colored dress or with scraped knees the mafioso encouraged her behavior-- laughing. Lord, Lila still remembered the roaring laughter, echoing through hallways of their mansion. Doing so, he granted his only daughter liberty neither of his male heirs enjoyed. Eventually, Caroline made peace with her daughter’s lifestyle but there was one matter she still felt obligated to pester her daughter with whenever a chance presented itself. Marriage. The picture Henry painted for the spinster didn’t sound half bad, though. “You forgot to mention a cocktail with a tiny umbrella that would inevitably be in my hand,” she grinned, playing along. “Not my fault not proper feels so damn good.” One night mid-joint, to Henry of all people, she had vowed to get married only if she found an equal, a partner as brilliant and fast enough to run with the wolves Solano lions. “You know what I’ll say if either of you brings it up,” she said, sealing her mild threat with a wink sent his way. Lillian would casually point out she was the third in line to get married. Adrian had been the first to promise to love someone forever-- for all the good it’s done him. Henry was supposed to be next, not her.
The two siblings reached the end of the narrow pathway and stepped into the English garden, known for its prickly bushes of gentle pink roses. “I was going to wait,” a sigh tore itself from her lips, her gaze wandering off to the brightly lit dining room seen through the numerous floor-length windows. Lillian recalled her conversation with Adrian and him reminding her just how important it was to their mother to create an illusion of a perfect family dinner. None of them felt perfect though, so perhaps a joint wasn’t a bad idea to relieve the tension before the charade itself began. From the gazebo, she grabbed a blanket and lay it on the ground behind the bush-- a verified hiding spot. “Need any help?” Holding out a hand for her brother, Lila asked simply, without a trace of pity in her voice. In her mind nothing could bring her brother down but she sensed the unfortunate injury and its consequences had shaken the Lion within to his very core. Henry knew how much Lila adored him so there was no need for dramatics. Or to ever let him know her own heart broke the day his dream had been crushed. Or put on hold, at least. “How’s your leg? Hope you’re doing your physical therapy homework, can’t wait for the day to kick your ass in the ring again.” Lila remarked fondly, deliberately adding the last part to brighten the atmosphere. The Solano sister reached for the joint and tilting her head to the side, she lit it up. The first, much-needed drag was a long one. The blonde remained silent for a moment, savoring the burning sensation traveling down her throat and corrupting her lungs.
rcmannavarro:
In the moment she suggested it, Roman understood why she carried the reputation that she did. He reserved zero judgement, instead felt the slightest pang of sympathy for the woman - she was doomed to never being able to do right in anyone’s eyes as a birth right. People were simultaneously more and less forgiving with women than men. Men had plenty of excuse that could easily attached to them. Roman refused to allow himself to be one of those men. Every choice he made was called into question on whether it would serve his greater ambitions and right now, her suggestion was no different. Would the experience serve to his greater ambitions? Further, would he be able to truly connect with her? Those two questions were how he guided his life. Calculated reckless pursuit of his values, ambitions, and overall more concerned with people. Her question made him smile. “Truthfully, a chef was one of the first things I outsourced when I had the capital. Prior to that, it was a daily occurrence. I generally reserve the cooking for holidays now.” He paused and used his forefinger to tap her bare shoulder top gently, “However, for you I will make an exception. Are you opposed to taking my car with me?” He knew that she likely had a car waiting, but driving was one of the few simple pleasures that Roman liked. Perhaps it was the new money in him that enjoyed cars that he never grew up with.
A calm smile residing on her lips implied there wasn’t anything tragic about her inability to meet their expectations. Her younger self, though, had been much more confused and concerned about Caroline Solano’s disapproving frown. However, as soon as the daughter embraced the fact she’d never fall into a certain category as planned, the Sleeping Beauty of the Solano family awakened. Never limiting herself, she had grown to her fullest potential. Which was liberating, in a sense. And even now-- with lungs full of fresh night air and being on the arm of Roman Navarro, Lila couldn’t help but to relive it, a sense of enticing freedom washing over her. “For holidays, I see,” she commented and a light laugh followed. “Is it a responsibility you inherited when you became the head of the family?” In this case the head of the family could easily be a euphemism for mafia leader. “And? What’s your holiday specialty?” Lillian Solano enjoyed discussing arts-- culinary art included-- as she had enough knowledge, opinions and suggestions to last her a lifetime. “Thank you Roman, I appreciate it. In return, I promise to help as much as I can. I happen to be great with knives.” As reminded by the cool blade against her skin-- the dagger she had strapped to her thigh for protection. “Not at all, lead the way.” Down the street, her own town car was parked and walking past it, she tapped her nails lightly against the tinted glass of the window-- the most subtle of signals. “My driver will follow us, I hope you don’t mind.” Lila brought her gaze back to Roman, a soft smile gracing her lips. “Who knows how late or early I’ll be going home,“ she offered a logic explanation, however the Solano soldier following them and knowing Lillian Solano’s whereabouts was necessary for other reasons, of course. The caporegime satiated her thirst for adventure whenever possible, but she couldn’t afford to be reckless.

Elsie: so i got your card today
Elsie: very sweet of you, by the way, and very festive, goes perfectly with the holiday decor in my living room
Elsie: oh, and i take it the party's going well? with lots of presents?
Elsie: did you open the one from your mother yet?
Lila: I'm nothing if not sweet 😉
Lila: I wouldn't call it a party, there's not nearly enough alcohol here
Lila: Sure, lots of presents. One of them being Caroline's good mood
Lila: Yes, why do you ask?
elsiehartford:
Elsie’s lips pursed, a hint of dismay and amusement, at Lila hooking one of her perfectly manicured fingers behind the string of details she’d been hoping to avoid, pulling until she relented or the whole thing fell apart, whichever came first. She should’ve known, it’s exactly what she’d have done in her place. “The kind I’m sure a sister wouldn’t care to hear about,” Elsie replied, barely missing a beat, the transition to a knowing, sisterly smirk so smooth the pause might’ve not been there at all. Her expression didn’t falter, even at Lillian’s mentioning of her paycheck — another not-so-subtle reminder of her place (or the lack thereof) in the family she didn’t intend to take. With the cup halfway to her lips, she let out an easy chuckle, her eyes mirroring the amusement in Lila’s. “Is it really so hard to believe?” Elsie questioned, her gaze firmly on the blonde, unwavering even as the barista arrived with their order. She wasn’t in the mood to flirt, not with the boy in a silly apron, and with Lillian Solano sitting opposite her, there was a much bigger catch for her to reel in. So she sent him away, with nothing more than a customary ‘thank you’ and a wave of her hand, before sliding right back into the conversation he’d interrupted. “I know your opinion of me must be, well, whatever, but I’m very fond of your family. Caroline’s always treated me well. I consider her a friend, and there have been times she’s been more of a mother to me than my own ever has. So, paid employee or not, I worry for her, and miss her.” It was an exaggerated, embellished version of the truth, like a cheap piece of jewellery with a layer of gold dusted over it. Not entirely fake, and looking real enough, but a ruse all the same. She liked Caroline, that much was true, but without the promise of money and power, Elsie wouldn’t have bothered with half of what she’d done for the woman and her family. “And that extends to her children, too. Henry’s an old friend, Adrian’s, well, you know, and you.. I think highly of you, Lila, I really do. You’re stronger than your brothers, whatever they may think, and definitely the most fun.” Elsie smiled, leaning forward on her seat to pick up the spoon laid out for her. It was true. Lillian was a tough nut to crack, one she’d have plenty of fun with breaking. Digging the spoon in her souffle, she went on, not as much as raising a brow at the other’s sudden inquiry into her.. more charitable side. “There are the staples, of course. The children’s hospital, food bank, the homeless. But Caroline and I have been discussing a few projects in collaboration with the ALS Association of Los Angeles? Not just for the holiday season, but in a long run too, make it an annual thing. She was hoping to discuss it with you, I believe. Something about using your father’s name?” She didn’t think Lillian had been expecting her to contribute her own money, considering how much smaller the number on her bank account must’ve been compared to the Solano wealth. Time? Yes. Money? Not yet, not until she had free rein with the Solano millions. Bringing the spoon to her lips, she let out a quiet ‘mm’, enjoying the sensation of the souffle melting on her tongue. “Thanks for the dessert, again. It’s delicious.”
“Is it a no strings attached type of arrangement?” Lila asked based on the answer Elsie provided, but her usually wild imagination thankfully spared her any and all images Elsie’s implications might’ve evoked. For some reason when she thought of the brunette the word intense came to mind immediately so she couldn’t imagine her in any no strings attached scenario but why not hear about it from the mistress herself. “You’ve never talked about your family.” Lila remarked, not exactly asking a question but giving Elsie all the freedom to open up to her, if she wished to.
Her mother’s assistant was a smart one, no doubt about it-- listing the members of her family one by one seemingly to get through to Lila, tug at her heartstrings... Despite all their differences and conflicts, the Solanos stuck together and Elsie must’ve known how much Lila cared. Eventually it was her turn to speak and she lifted her chin ever so slightly. “Oh, but yes. It is so hard to believe you care about my family,” Yes, Elsie put a lot of effort to mention all of them: Caroline, Henry, Adrian... However, there was one person missing. One person slipped Elsie’s mind and no wonder she did. One person Lila considered family and whose feelings or well-being Elsie didn’t give a single fuck about. “Lissa became a part of our family long before the words I do were spoken, did you know? It was around the time I was born. She has been a part of my family ever since, so I hope you do understand why I have trouble believing you care about my family at all.” Lila explained her perspective, her perfectly calm gaze piercing into Elsie’s eyes.
Luis’ daughter leaned in forward, her gaze taking in Elsie’s pretty features, those painted lips spilling sugary compliments, long neck and cleavage. A nice and tempting package all in all. Which might’ve been enough to make her brother’s head spin. “What I’m trying to say Elsie, if you want to win me over, be my guest-- but you're going to have to try a little harder.” Lila made herself clear in a whisper but her words shouldn’t have caught the other by surprise. The youngest Solano remained in her seat, in Elsie’s company. It wasn’t Lila’s intention to scare her off or shame her. On the contrary-- she hoped her little challenge would encourage her. It would be interesting to see if Elsie had what it took to play their game. And wouldn’t Lila be a hypocrite if she blamed Elsie for seducing her brother? The blonde caporegime who flirted with a certain engaged mafia leader whenever an opportunity presented herself. The rational part of her assumed Elsie had done the same. As a free woman, she had recognized the opportunity to seduce the golden boy of LA society and grabbed it. Adrian was the one who was supposed to put an end to it. He hadn’t. The rest was history. However, Elsie Hartford, her schemes and her motivation forgotten as Lila focused on a more important cause. The brunette was quick to provide a few options-- which Lillian liked and she responded with a nod of head. “The ALS Association, definitely.” Lila gave a nod-- no additional explanation was necessary. “The children’s hospital as well. Also see if you can find organizations providing shelter, education and healthcare for abandoned and neglected children. When we’re done fucking up this planet, we should make sure someone capable of fixing it comes after us, right?”
henry-solano:
He deflects the suspicious fuss in his mother’s perfectly plucked brow. Despite Henry’s temperament, his ferocity, and the copious amounts of self-indulgence his position offered him – Caroline had difficulty in distrusting him. A mother’s love, as is often said, has no bounds. Least of all the matriarch’s, where her second eldest son was concerned. A haughty, confident smile in tow until Caroline vanished into the home. Finally, he turns to the self-satisfied grin in Lillian’s face. Even as children, the youngest Solano’s persuasive ways were second-to-none. Without Adrian’s claim to power, or Henry’s pervasive violence – Lillian found her own way to be as convincing as any other. It was as endearing, as it was something to be wary of. “You’re right. My mistake. Lillian Solano doesn’t ask, she sells an idea and makes you think you thought of it yourself.” Henry assesses knowledgeably. His mind was perhaps not as keen as his brother’s, but the underboss knew his sister. Just as he knew people. If anything else, the injuries sustained in the line of fire proved a blessing in disguise. Without the full spectrum of his athletic abilities, Henry grew sharper with each passing day. “Careful with the threats, sis. I might just have to tell on you.” Henry mocks wryly. “And we both know I’m mom’s favorite.” There was a time, not so long ago, when it would be Luis’ admonishment that they feared. These days; however, it was their mother’s will and deadly stare that kept her children in line. Of course, it was under the assumption that there were any lines at all. “Oh, I’ll use it alright. Wisely, or otherwise.” There’s a tilt to his voice, the promise of the vicious behavior that Henry Solano was known for. Yet as easily as he fell into it, he emerged as the doting brother to his formidable sister. “Monogrammed, designer luggage.” He answers, before adding with a conspiratorial nod. “With top shelf tequila and pounds of marijuana inside. After the year we’ve had, I think blowing off some steam is necessary.”
Old habits truly did die hard-- even in his thirties Lila’s brother threatened to tell on her, mustering his goofy, teasing tone. As strange as it sounded, Lillian found some comfort in the fact that if everything else went to hell, she could count on Henry to stay the same. With Adrian going through a mid-life crisis at forty, their mother drowning in grief and Lila ignoring her own, Henry was the only constant in her life. As for his relationship with Caroline, once it’d somewhat bothered her; their mother holding Henry in the highest of regards. But mostly because he never had to go out of his way to prove himself. Lila didn’t enjoy the same luxury. The youngest Solano liked to think expectations most of all, damaged her relationship with their mother. Right from the start, it had been expected of her to mimic Caroline in everything she did, be this tiny version of her, a perfect little doll with golden locks and a pink bow. Henry never had to pretend and yet he was a favorite. However, the immense amount of love she had for the sibling closest to her in age prevailed the envy every time so Lila just accepted it as it was. “And Henry Solano wishes he could intimidate me. Or,” she skipped a few steps ahead of him on the pebble path. “Hold me back!” Lila spun around once to prove a point before her brother caught up with her again and she wrapped an arm around his shoulders, walking side by side. Eager to hear about her present. Henry didn’t disappoint as his present was meant to feed for passion for traveling. However. Her decisions to leave LA were more often than not were made on the spur of the moment. Quite literally running from her problems, Lila didn’t bother packing, all she needed was her gold card and every problem was instantly solved. Nonetheless, Henry’s was a wonderfully thoughtful gift. At the last part, her expression lit up, blue eyes sparkling and all. “You thought of everything! Mary Jane-- my best friend in the whole wide world. After you,” with Adrian and Lissa being inseparable as children, Lillian found her best friend in Henry. And the Solanos being the untouchable mafia family-- intimidating to anyone outside their little circle, she didn’t have many friends. Lots and lots of acquaintances and party buddies but real friends? Close to none. “Might ask you to stab me if Mother casually mentions the eligible bachelors of LA one more time. Wanna bet how long until this family dinner goes to hell? I say by the time the dessert is served, we’ll be getting high on the roof terrace.”
jonathan-quinn:
“That shouldn’t stop anyone to try to one up someone else. Maybe next time stalk me a little more casually” Jonathan teased as he looked over her clothes. None of any of that meant much to him, he honestly hadn’t even noticed what she was wearing, just that who she was was trying to engage with him and that meant having to be on his toes. “ Sorry to disappoint you but I act like this with everyone. It’s not just the name or the face. at work here. I’m wary of every person” He explained looking away for a moment. It was true. If he had behaved like he did now back then a lot of people wouldn’t have been hurt. “ Why don’t I let you answer that one for yourself. Can’t be giving you all my secrets darlin’. “ He smirked before shaking his head. “ Doesn’t everyone have that? Even if it’s just out of amusement,” Jonathan glanced at the screen smirking at her enthusiasm for the game and glanced back. “ I can’t just sit here and let you win of course. Gotta make it fair”
“Cocky, aren’t we.” Lila couldn’t help but grin at his assumption, still not revealing if her running into him was a coincidence or not-- all in the spirit of keeping the mystery alive. “You’re hoping there is a next time, Jonathan?” The blonde asked in a teasing manner, taking a sip of her beer. “My outfit isn’t stopping me, there are other ways to one up you.” However, for Lillian Solano it didn’t get a lot more casual. Only impeccably dressed did she feel comfortable and good which at the end of the day mattered the most. “Fair enough.” A beat as she noticed him averting his gaze. The blonde sensed there was a story there. “And were you always like this or was there a time I could’ve done this and gotten a smile?” Lila tossed a fry into the air before catching it in her mouth. “Alright, deal. Wouldn’t have it any other way,” she flashed Jonathan a dazzling smile before half turning away from him to focus on the match. “If the Fiery don’t win, it’s over for them, but it’s gonna be hard, with Kozlova carrying the Purple Monkeys on her back.”
eileendwyer:
The ride to Lillian’s was filled with chit-chat and drinks, allowing Eileen to loosen up a bit before they arrived. Her building was beautiful, not that Eileen was surprised. Lillian had taste and the money necessary for such accommodations. Her penthouse apartment was decorated exceptionally well, but it was the view of the city-skyline and ocean that really set the place apart. Compared to her place, it was a dream come true. Eileen rented a decent apartment downtown that used to have a pretty view; however, recent construction totally ruined any sort of vista she had. Eileen definitely needed to move.
“Your place is stunning,” Eileen said, walking through the threshold. She approached one of the large glass windows and looked at the city streets below. Eileen loved Los Angeles, especially at a distance. All the corruption was buried under the glitz, glamour and architecture. “Did you decorate yourself?”
It was always the same ordeal when Lila returned to her penthouse. No matter what time of day or night, no matter her mood-- the whatever designer clutch she’d chosen for the occasion was left next to the bust of a tragic Greek hero on the entryway table, her coat on the round tufted ottoman and her rings and other valuable jewelry on the marble dish. The place Lila called home was truly a pleasant place to be so she thanked the other with a soft smile, applying her cashmere hand cream. Not many people were aware of this but the penthouse had Lila Solano written all over it. While it didn’t contain many personal or mafia-related information (save her laptop), all of her favorite works of literature were there, the artwork was painted in her favorite colors, her favorite aromas in the air. “Sort of. On one of my trips to Milan I made a friend, a renowned Italian interior designer, and roped them into helping me,” a smirk formed on her lips. “Make yourself comfortable, I’ll be right back.” Lila returned soon after with the ice cream that was promised, chocolate-covered strawberries and some more alcohol. “So tell me Eileen,” she began, lowering herself into one of the large leather armchairs. “When did it all get fucked up for you?”
henry-solano:
@lilacsolano
“No funny business.” Henry repeats, when faced with his mother’s condemning stare. Caroline Solano may have been a traditionalist and a society patron, but there was a reason she was unparalleled as the mafia king’s wife. Even now, buried in her grief and fears for the Solano’s future, she was tireless in her pursuit to maintain a family image. The Solano’s Christmas Brunch was no exception. “Besides, I’m not the one you need to worry about. Right, sis?” His sharpened senses, and brotherly affection, sensed the youngest Solano from paces behind them. It was not uncommon to find Caroline and Henry walking side-by-side through the immaculate gardens. Adrian and Lillian may have been his father’s favorites, but Henry was often his mother’s. After a cursory nod in satisfaction from their mother, she pressed a kiss on both her children’s cheeks, and moved briskly through the manicured lawn. Before Lillian could open her mouth, he interrupts with a good-nature smile. “I’m not wearing that scratchy Christmas sweater you left on my bed, Lil. Don’t bother asking.” Even so, they both knew that a few pokes and prods from his witty sister would make him reconsider. It seemed that, where his little sister was concerned, Henry was amenable. Now, more than ever, as the absence of their father loomed over the Christmas Day. “The sword, though. I liked that.”
If the gingerbread cookie weren’t so damn delicious, she would’ve thrown it at Henry-- it was what his little comment earned him. “Har har,” Instead the youngest Solano only playfully rolled her eyes and a light laugh bubbled out of her as she fell into step with her mother and brother. Earlier Henry was tasked with whisking the matriarch away as Adrian and Lillian had an urgent matter to discuss, mafia-related-- no rest for the wicked, right? Neither of the three siblings was in a Christmas spirit per say, however they all agreed they had a single mission: make Caroline happy this holiday season. So far, so good. Apart from the typical sibling teasing, the atmosphere in the air wasn’t too awkward. As soon as Caroline looked away, Lila mouthed: kiss ass. And soon enough their mother returned inside, leaving them to discussing Henry’s mock Christmas present. The Solano sister grinned in amusement, she could understand his disgust. Lila, the fashion icon she was, wouldn’t be caught dead wearing anything similar. However, her life’s mission was to mess with her brothers. Keep them on her toes. “Please, I was never going to ask.” The blonde was either going to tell him to put it on or trick him into wearing it. “Hang in there, next year you might just get a pair of matching socks.” Lila laughed as they strolled around their vast estate, those same old lawns where they used to play sports and have silly competitions. Lila had a pack of cigarettes in the pocket, just in case either of them needed one when all those memories flooded back. “You did?” The tone of her voice turned gentle as Henry revealed he liked the actual present she had made, specially for him-- in her eyes, he was the only courageous person left in the house. “Use it wisely, H. And now I’m curious about my present,”
