For: @jj-hayes Location: Big Kid Prom
Lilah wasn't sure about attending the Big Kid Prom alone, but so far she was making the most of it. She had never been the most social person, but it was better to be seen out and about than questioned later on why she missed it. Leaving early was also still an option. She held the drink in her hand and stood off to the side as she scanned the crowd. "Uncle JJ!" She smiled and walked toward him before stopping and looking at his shirt. "Interesting outfit."
Primarily stopping in for a late brunch, Kennedy's gaze couldn't help but gravitate toward the dessert case. Already debating a sweet treat to have after the meal she had yet to have. "Ah, not a total loss then. All the pies are to die for here, so I know I won't be disappointed," she gave a knowing smile, opening the menu. "Maybe just a few minutes, but could I possibly start with a vanilla latte?"
"You're not wrong about that. I'm a little biased, but I think we have the best in the county." She had learned to talk up all of their food, but they were really good pies. "One vanilla latte coming right up. And take your time. No point in being in a rush." She smiled and walked to the back to make the drink.
"I'll take the waffles," Sabrina said once she'd settled into her seat, shoving her bag a little further out of the way, and then flashing a smile towards Lilah. "As usual." A laugh escaped her a moment later. This was nothing unusual, not even slightly, whenever she didn't feel like making her own breakfast, she'd been straight to the diner to grab something before work.
"The waffles are always the best choice." She smiled and scribbled on the notepad. "And are you finally going to let me talk you into trying them with chocolate chips?" She looked up while she waited for the answer. "And coffee, tea, or something else?"
"No apple pie?" Rafael asked with an exasperated huff, "I guess I'll go somewhere else." But given that he said it while he was sitting down, making himself comfortable, that seemed to be an idle threat that he wasn't going to make good on. Taking the menu that was handed to him, he let out a soft laugh, "thank you, though. Ah, just a bit. I will start with a black coffee, though, please. Do you have any specials today that I shouldn't miss out on?"
"Sorry. I might have tried to help out in the kitchen and well, we're a few short today." She laughed and watched him take a seat. She walked away to grab a mug and the coffee pot and returned to start pouring him a fresh cup while she spoke. "Well, we do have some pretty delicious shrimp bisque today. I tried it earlier, and I'm going to be a little disappointed if we go through it all before I can get a proper bowl."
For: Open Location: The Front Porch Diner
Lilah smiled and turned to the door when she heard it open. "Hi, welcome in." She gave them time to take a seat before she walked over with a menu. "I feel like I have to warn you, we did just run out of our apple pie if you were wanting that today. But the cherry does look really good." She nodded toward the desserts in the case. "Do you need some time to look over the menu?"
"I know the last thing you probably want to do is have your old man asking you questions about how you're doing -" Andy stated, fork pressing into a potato on the plate that was in front of him. The closed sign on the front door of Front Porch had been displayed and the lights were dimmer; having dinner here wasn't out of the ordinary. Not his favorite place after a long day on his feet, but, some days it were easier with his daughter @lilahfisher living above the diner to enjoy a meal there with her if she were up for it. "But, you know that even if you're grown now you can still come to me if anything is ever bothering you." Andy stated, smiling a little wider. Being there for his kids as they grew up was always something he cherished, and even if he hadn't always been there every night at bed, his time with them was always something he didn't take for granted. "The apartment holding up for you?"
Lilah looked down at the plate in front of her and picked up one of the fries. She didn't mind nights like this. It made it easier when it was time to go upstairs and finally start winding down from the day. "Yeah, I know, Dad." She smiled at him and took a bite before looking out the front window. It was hard to admit to anyone that her life hadn't turned out the way she expected. It wasn't something she wanted to bring up when she had a paper due tomorrow. "Yeah, it's great. I really appreciate you letting me stay there. And like, if you need me to pay or something, I can set aside some money."
