Hey there. I was wondering what move your post from 2012 refers to? "So after a day of computers literally exploding and projectors falling out of the roof, I am blessed with topless sweaty and oiled cocky and then suddenly prone and crying Stephen Greif with legs spread". Cheers :-).
Oh man, tumblr has no date stamps on these so I have no idea when this arrived in my inbox, Iām sorry if this is years late.
I think I was deep in my āStephen Greif is a sexyā phase and was referring to this;
https://youtu.be/Bj_t5J2Sw4A?t=1h55m41s
Itās a clip from The Last Days of Pompeii where he has to fight and heās all oiled and topless. There is also Bonus Travis II in the form of Brian Croucher also oiled and topless. Just oiled and topless men fighting.
Hey just a psa but Lucretia (from taz) is actually a black woman! I believe it first comes up in the first lunar interlude, but yeah! Your last piece of art showed her as a white woman, which was really odd and I just wanted to inform you in case you didn't know! Have a nice day!!
Oof, if sheās looking white clearly I have room to improve; I was going for a woman of Indian (SE Asia) appearance but need to work on facial features and evidently the colour scheme. I had ideas about her weaving spells into saree embroidery.
Got to say Iām not a fan of the drive-by-anons though, comes off a wee bit patronising and I donāt know if you want a conversation or just to be fandom policeĀ ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Iām so delighted that the Adventure Zone inspired me to feel creative again.
Hereās Lucretia feeding the last of the stories to Junior. Sheās definitely in my top three characters.
FINALLY! Golden Pair Ring! XD
oh my god.
I feel... at peace. Vindicated somehow. Like after fourteen years someone in marketing said āyou know what, you were right.ā

Why Valve are amazing
Last year I was playing through the HL2:E2 commentary mode, and while I was having a fantastic time I noticed that whenever the team mentioned the gamer in terms of personal pronouns, it was always a āheā. I started to feel a bit alienated, like I was in a space I didnāt belong (again, because itās often like this in gaming worlds. No girls on the internet, y'know) I thought it was a shame because Valve has been great on the ladyfront in general with characters like Alyx and GLaDOS and employing folks like Makani in our loose community. So I thought it was a bit odd that anyone who wasnāt a āheā wasnāt addressed by the devs, even if it was simple grammar and a small point of contention. I felt like saying āhey, Iām here too! A lot of us non-āheāsā are here too, please include us! I know you know weāre here!ā
I emailed Gabe, because Iād read that he reads each of his emails (mighty impressive considering their sheer volume alone). I was delighted not only to recieve a reply from Gabe, but Marc Laidlaw as well and they took me seriously. Marc seemed to take it upon himself to start a war against the grammar police; I was just thrilled that I wasnāt ignored or dismissed. In a gaming world where Penny Arcade fervently defend rape jokes and the likes of EAās āsin to winā contest exist, this is a big deal to me. While I knew Valve was awesome I think I underestimated their awesomeness.
What was awesome was playing Portal 2 (awesome enough in and of itself) and then turning on the commentary mode to hear about 'Project Lilā. Iām Lil. Marc thanked me in game for writing them that letter. I couldnāt quite believe it, and I was so stunned and honoured. My favourite game, the advertising and concept art of which Iāve been consuming voraciously since it started⦠and Iād played a tiny part in it. Inclusive grammar mattered so much to me that I wrote in about it, and it mattered so much to them that they made a little movement to make their games accessible to everyone.
Thankyou Gabe and Marc and Valve, youāre truly the best.
Oh, so that developer commentary node talking aboutĀ āproject lilā wasnāt a joke, then. Someone actually pulled this shit and Valve listened to them.
TIL I guess.
Assuming, you know, #thatHappened.
> In a gaming world where Penny Arcade fervently defend rape jokes
They made a joke about someone ignoring rape, which was portrayed as morally reprehensible. That was the crux of the joke. The whole point. How does a joke that goes āignoring rape is wrong, and good people shouldnāt ignore itā going to support ārape cultureā?
Iāve seen people say jokes about Nazis are only 'acceptableā if theyāre making fun of the Nazis. Here we have a joke about rape erasure that made fun of someone ignoring rape, and people still complained.
Oh, and Penny Arcade very clearly said that they do not condone rape, rape is wrong, and their comic was not intended to condone rape. So they responded to feedback and criticism.
Then people yelled at them for literally months on end. At one point, someone said Gabe chose his art stream music just to spite the complainers. Because somewhere in his two hour stream, he played one song by Tori Amos. A rape victim.
So when OP acts like PA just ignored what people had to say, it seems a tad odd.

>Valve was already off to a great start in the Portal series with their handling of Chellās character. Having a female character that just was a woman without making a big fuss about it, either through sexualizing her or hyping up the fact that she was a woman, let female gamers experience the (sadly) revolutionary idea that female characters could just be normal, default characters.
This was a surprise to literally no one. Lara Croft existed. Samus Aran existed. Various JRPG protagonists. You wrote this two years after Bayonetta came out. Three years after Left 4 Dead, two after the sequel. Mirrorās Edge.
>For once, the person holding the gun wasnāt some random white guy (like it is in almost every other FPS game),
Like Bad Company 2? Halo Reach? Metro 2033? Bioshock 2? Red Steel 2? All of those are from 2010 the year before you wrote this.
>Add to this Project Lil and Valve has taken the (again, sadly) revolutionary step of being the first major game company to explicitly include women in the same ways that men get by default.
This is not only wrong, this is critically wrong, for reasons Iāve explained. Iām not sure if you honestly didnāt know what you were talking about, or you ignored it. I hope it was the former.
@gamergate-news
Fairly significant addition to the Penny Arcade bit, they had to take the comic in question down after recieving legitimate threats against the lives of their children.
MRAs are 7 years late to the party?
For starters, Iām not the owner of the blog youāve linked. Though I agree with it.Ā Your examples Bayonetta and Lara Croft, like a good majority of video game characters are highly sexualised. Itās nice to play female characters who simply exist as women without hypersexualisation or a backstory as deep as āromantic interestā or āwhose death/kidnap furthers the plotā. There are great games like Mirrorās Edge & L4D but over the decades of video game history I would think the exceptions prove the rule.
I donāt intend to go back over 7 years of Penny Arcade history, though they did defend their rape joke. They made and sold merch out of it as a āfuck youā, if thatās not defensive I donāt know what is. I donāt particularly care for picking apart the intent of a shitty comic but when your reaction to a bunch of people you hurt with your misplaced joke is to make merch out of it, thatās a defensive and asshole move. (So is threatening kids lives, but tangential to the issue at hand, like if you want the gaming death threats olympics go elsewhere)
:(
I only just discovered that this site hasnāt been existence for more than a year;
http://grun.vis.ne.jp/gs/index.htm
Only 90ā²s kids will understand! Where on earth do the young kids go to find their Japanese Gyakuten Saiban fanart content now? Is there some sort of social media hub? Does it have the capability to search not just by pairing but by order, because itās very important to know which penis goes where? Or does Jfandom simply not operate like that anymore?
It brought back a memory of when Japanese sites used to hide the link to the main content or the ero content, sometimes with passwords or warnings because foreigners had no shame plastering their fanart across the internet
Man, I feel so out of touch all of a sudden
