Album of the Week: We Have No Future, We’re All Doomed - Kississippi
Each listen to Kississippi’s We Have No Future, We’re All Doomed feels more significant than the last. It’s an ceaseless reveal of emotions - sorrow, longing, confusion, love. These weighted confessions reveling in the gracefulness and electricity of a what’s become a transformed Kississippi.
Beginning as the solo effort of Zoë Allaire Reynolds, the band has since added Colin James Kupson for recording, and an additional two members for live performances. These small but significant changes make for a captivating follow-up to debut, i can feel you in my hair still.
The heart wrenching sincerity of Kississippi is what initially attracted us to the project, with an undercurrent of sadness ever present under beautiful, lofty instrumentals. That same candor is present here again, though with the aid of Kupson, the fragility of it all feels larger than ever. Words and adjectives aren’t enough to properly describe the magic present here - these secrets are ones you just have to unearth for yourself. Trust me, it’s worth it.
Catch the band in Pittsburgh on 1/1 with Fun Home at City Grows!
