On this day in 2012 Prince Philip presented Queen Elizabeth II with the winning owner's trophy after her horse 'Estimate' won The Queen's Vase horse race on day 4 of Royal Ascot on June 22, 2012 .

And exactly 59 years before, Queen Elizabeth II presented a cup to Prince Philip as captain of the winning team after the novice polo final match at Cowdray Park Polo Club, June 22nd 1953.

OTD in 1961 Trooping the Colour, celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s official birthday, took place on June 10th, Prince Philip’s actual birthday.
