Magickal Folk Names for Herbs

Having knowledge of herbs and plants (either magically or medicinally) during the Middle Ages, often was reason enough to accuse a woman of being a “witch,” so there is no doubt some of the country folk at the time took these herbal folk names literal.  Chances are, these names were used merely as descriptors to help remember them easier.  Most plants were given names descriptive of their uses and others were given names for something they generally resembled. Spells written by witches in ancient times were often written with such descriptors, which personally i believe to be a form of secret coding.

Here is a small list of “witchy” herb names (most of these are already floating around the community) that you can use in your craft when you create your spells.  This list could be a great addition to any Grimoire and i hope you find them as useful as i do.

Photos of some adorable fat tigers in Siberia Tiger Park in northeast China’s Harbin province have gone viral recently in China. Netizens joked that these chubby cats ate too much during the past week-long of Spring Festival holiday, just like many Chinese people did.

While some raised concerns over the health of these fat tigers, it is in fact the nature of these animals to devour more in order to adapt the acute weather during the winter in Harbin, which could be as low as minus 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. Netizens actually need not worry, as they will gradually become thinner in summer.

Siberian Tiger Park is the largest natural park for wild Siberian tigers in the world at present, occupying an area of 1,440,000 square meters (355.8 acres). I mean, Siberian tigers are literally born with adaptations for the cold. I mean they’re from Siberia… Wild tigers don’t pack on the pounds like this. These tigers are overfed as part of a tourist attraction where they’re fed live animals in front of the guests very frequently so no wonder they’re giant.

Tigers should be lean as they should be able to jump and run to catch their prey. If these tigers are 100% siberian tigers they are literally made to be in cold weather. It looks to me as though these babies have been declawed, as their paws look a bit deflated, which causes them to gain weight due to low activity. Being declawed causes pain and arthritis which is only worsened by their extra weight. These tigers arent healthy, very cute, but not healthy. Big cats in the wild do not eat everyday. They gorge themselves sleep for a few a while, track more prey, and then eat again. This cycle can last a few days or a week. Eating everyday causes this unhealthy weight gain, along with not having stimulation or area to exercise. There are too many tigers in too small of space for them to be comfortable as well. Even if this place is helping bolster the tiger population, it doesnt seem to me they are very worried about a healthy population. They cant go back to the wild either, which isnt fair to the animal. Why breed these amazing cats when they cant roam free? And who knows if these tigers are being bred in a wide enough gene pool to not cause deformities or health issues associated with inbreeding? Fat tigers are not happy tigers.

Poe is my 4 year old ferret. He is my baby and he needs help. We took him to the vet because he was throwing up and heaving, which never happens to healthy ferrets. We were hoping it was just a furball, but ferrets don't cough those up unless cloged. He was walking funny and kept going limp. So...

Poe is my 4 year old ferret. He is my baby and he needs help. We took him to the vet because he was throwing up and heaving, which never happens to healthy ferrets. We were hoping it was just a furball, but ferrets don’t cough those up unless clogged. He was walking funny and kept going limp. So we rushed him to the vet. We waited for 6 hours until 3 am to bring him home. We were showed xrays where a tumor was spotted, they took blood work as well where they found that his enzyme level was really high. Just for that one visit to just examine him cost us $400. They gave us medication and sent us home. We are suppose to bring him back in a week for another specialist to look at him, which will run us another $400. Once we we get his opinion, we were told that its going to be extremely expensive for his surgery. We don’t qualify for pet insurance and we are barely getting by as it is, but I need my Poe here, he has many more years and i’m not ready to part with. We lost 3 chinchillas of old age and our dog Mitsey this year to old age as well… i’m not ready for my other baby to be taken. Anything helps. please share and donate.
