This book is a modern retelling of the classic novel, The Great Gatsby. Naomi (Nick) has to spend the summer in the Hamptons with her narcissistic mother. She reconnects with her old friend, Delilah (Daisy) and Delilah's douche-y boyfriend, Teddy (Tom). She also forms a romantic relationship with Teddy and Delilah's friend, Jeff (Jordan). A very mysterious girl rents out the mansion next to her house and throws very lavish parties. Sounds familiar, right? Well, the very mysterious girl happens to be Jacinta (Jay Gatsby), a very popular fashion blogger and creator of The Wanted. That's all I'm going to tell you about the plot, but if you're familiar with Gatsby, it's pretty easy to figure out how it ends. I'm a fan of The Great Gatsby, so I thought I'd give this novel a try. I adored it! It's perfect for the summer, and it's full of drama, glitz, and love. I read this very quickly, it's an addicting read. I love the teenager-y spin on The Great Gatsby that Benincasa created. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a fun book to read by the pool! 5/5 stars.
