Benjamin Alire Sáenz tweets from February 13, 2021:
Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World. October 12th from Simon and Schuster. It took me years to write this book. It is not my book anymore. It’s yours now. Sorry you had to wait so long. You’re beautiful.
And Chuy is not particularly happy that he isn’t in the book. He wants to know who the hell Legs is. [image of Sáenz’s hand holding his very small, very fluffy dog]
Aristotle and Dante is getting a sequel!!!! More details (including the blurb) here!

Tweet from Emma in response to the book release: “ready to get my heart broken [praying emoji]”
Sáenz replies: “Your heart will not be broken. I promise.”
With all the news coming out regarding the casting for the Ari and Dante movie (which is filming...literally, right now as I make this post), I wanted to make a rough compilation of (roughly) who seems to be playing what characters from what I've been able to discern:
(Tumblr crop is being annoying so idk you may have to tap on the image to get the full thing)
Veronica Falcón and Eugenio Derbez as Ari's parents - Liliana and Jaime Mendoza
Kevin Alejandro and Eva Longoria as Dante's parents - Soledad and Sam Quintana
Isabella Gomez as Gina Navarro and Hanani Taylor as Susie Byrd; plus Luna Blaise as Illeana
And finally, Max Pelayo and Reese Gonzales as our Ari and Dante, here's one of our first looks at them together ✨
No spoilers /
I stayed up until 3am to finish ari and dante dive into the waters of the world and i was trying not to cry loudly so my dad wouldnt hear me, but i was crying so much i did that thing kids do, my lips were trembling.
Benjamin made me cry through the whole book but that ending was so shattering and beautiful. I dont know if he intends to make a third book in a few years. Maybe, i mean he changed his mind about making a sequel too. But I just love and hate how his endings are so open. Everything can happen, and its not anti climatic but you wish with all your heart that there was more.
You can tell he loves his characters a lot and he truly made the readers fall in love with Ari and Dante and their families so much. This books have a special place in my heart and I will always treasure this story. It did not disappoint, not even a little bit
BOOKS I’VE READ IN 2021: Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (Aristotle & Dante, #1) by Benjamin Alire Saenz (reread)
“Love was always something heavy for me. Something I had to carry.”
