Finished this one. I love how there warm and cool tone throughout this pieces. It really gives the viewers the sense of humanity inside her.

I added more to my concept. This time I want to make a series of monochromatic portraits of the same person but this time the colors are meaningful. Before, the background was to help so the emotion and to really make the viewer think. Each color is to best represent the emotion of the figure. Green mean growth and nature. I chose this first one to be green to represent the contemplation of life that we all do at some point in the day.

Artist Statement: advanced drawing

My work is to show the stages of meeting and getting to know someone. I have painted three faces with a few different expressions of a little girl. One is looking away, one is looking back at you, and one is laughing. This is my five year old niece. I’m trying to portray her in a way how someone would first meet her. At first, she doesn’t know you and you do not know her. Then you grab her attention and one would try talking to her. Once you have warmed up to her, you would expect her to like you and she laughs. My concept is to make the viewer feel like they are actually meeting her. I’d like to make a few more mini series like this and add more expressions by using different colors and values.

Here's some of the work that I've been working on this week. They aren't finished yet cause after watercolor dries, it looks a little different from once you left them, but the one on the left is about done. I'm excited to see my paintings come to life.

Over the break I took many photos of my 5 year old niece. She made many funny, happy, giggly, and even some stoic faces. I liked the stoic looks but I also took away my original concept of funny faces that describe ones personality. Because I like stoic faces, Professor Pipkin helped me come up with the new concept of combining the original and new concept instead of giving one of them up. I will most likely focus on one person and show them with stoic faces that best show someone's image and then paint more that describe their personality.

Road Tripping my Spring Break and going out enjoying God's creation and art. I've been out taking many digital and film photos, haven't been drawing or painting but I plan to in the next few days. I don't like the idea of not have done any art in one day. "Photography" has been my works of art this first half of the week.
