“Family means unconditional love, sometimes to a fault. I feel like we treat our family and the people closest to us the worst because we know they will love us no matter what. I also believe that you have your blood relatives and then you have your love relatives — that’s what I like to call them. Your friends are the family that you choose.” — Nina Dobrev for CBS Watch Magazine, March/April 2019.
“Be you and embrace your differences as things that make you unique and special. “Different” shouldn’t be considered confusing, negative, or something that divides us. It should be a quality we applaud and admire within ourselves and others.”

It used to bother me - having bigger, fuller brows. I even plucked them once so I’d fit in, but I hated them and couldn’t wait for them to grow back. Now I embrace them. I realized the quirky things that make you different are what make you beautiful.

I think my own aesthetic is quite eclectic. I like mixing and matching vintage with modern, and trying to find my own voice with all the antiquities and oddities that I have. Sometimes less is more and then sometimes you can add a little bit of pizzazz every once in a while and make more of a statement.

“I do believe in listening to your mind as well that that you need to be smart about certain things, to protect yourself. You need a healthy mix of both really, but it’s important not to think so much that you’re not able to follow your heart.”
It was not easy; it was like engaging with an addiction. One of the things I really wanted the film to explore was that once you have this relationship, once you have this mental illness or this disease, it never really goes away. If I can tell a story that puts the audience in a position to make a similar choice to the one that I made in my young life, maybe I could get them to empathize.

“From the iconic red staircase and bright blue sea to delicious ice cream on the Croisette and hearing sounds of celebration from my balcony, it’s all been utterly unforgettable. My first Cannes experience has been a complete sensory overload.”
