Alex Ovechkin is a total bookworm pass it along

A lil bit of slightly outdated info, but as of 2015 Ovi was preparing to defend his dissertation- if he was successful he would be a Candidate of Science.

That degree would require something like 6+ years of University Studies, and is “…informally regarded in Russia and many other post-Soviet states as equivalent to PhD obtained in countries in which a PhD is not the highest academic degree.”

So basically by American standards, Ovi is between having a masters degree and a PhD.

For his undergrad degree (kind equivalent to a Bachelors in America) he wrote his thesis on ‘Speed training for high level hockey players at CSKA, Dinamo, and Spartak’ at the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports, Youth, and Tourism. He graduated from there in 2008.

So yes, Alexander Ovechkin is a v smart cookie, and probably a giant fuckin nerd.
