“I can’t believe the atmosphere of this place,” you say, lifting your glass to your lips. You nod your head towards the ornate candelabra and matching chandelier at your shared table. “It’s like we’re in a movie.”
“INDEED, MY LOVELY LITTLE FLESH FLOWER.”
Nothing could have prepared you for that unfortunate combination of words. Your sip of sparkling wine explodes out your nose, and you nearly dump the rest of the glass’s contents into your lap as you quake with silent laughter. Papyrus launches himself from his chair in a horrified panic, joining you at your side as you blindly grope around the table for a napkin. He crouches and hands you one of his silly formal dining gloves to use as a handkerchief instead.
“H-HUMAN! SAY SOMETHING!! OH NO, I’VE SEDUCED YOU TOO HARD!!” The genuine fear in his voice sends you into another giggling fit. “UNDYNE WARNED ME NOT TO COME ON TOO STRONG, I’VE BROKEN YOU!”
You shake your head and pat his knee in a way you hope is reassuring. Papyrus seems to understand, cupping your hand under his and watching you in worried silence.
“Oh my God, Papyrus,” you finally gasp, hiccupping, “never call me that again!”
“O-OH? DO YOU DISLIKE TERMS OF ENDEARMENT?”
“No, no, it’s not that, nicknames are cute, just…avoid that one. It sounds vulgar.”
Papyrus, utterly lost, cocks his head to the side, like an enormous, skeletal puppy.
“ERM…FORGIVE ME MY ROMANTIC MISSTEPS, MY…MEAT MATE?”
