My most vulnerable moment was tonight, when I crawled into my mother’s bed. I cried and told her how much my heart aches - how it’s been aching for so long now. She held my hand so tight and told me it was going to be okay. She said all these things about life and how important it was for my 23-year-old self to live it.

She said I deserved to be happy, that God didn’t intend for me to be unhappy forever.

I broke down, like I hadn’t before, and I’m glad it was at this moment - with my mother.
