this horrible loss of betta life I’ve had this week (and still trying to save them) plus I promised you guys 20+ free bettas has brought me to a conclusion —

I’m going to from now on, always give my bettas away free to good individual homes.

I will rescue bettas in need...

Betta Rescue

this horrible loss of betta life I've had this week (and still trying to save them) plus I promised you guys 20+ free bettas has brought me to a conclusion --

I'm going to from now on, always give my bettas away free to good individual homes.

I will rescue bettas in need that might be within saving ability or where someone can no longer keep their fish.

I will have to charge for shipping and actual expenses, but all as non-profit.

I'm an experienced fishkeeper and I've never seen anything like this, still I blame myself and there must have been some human error ... I've taken them all out of the tank and in shallow water and they're still just spiraling and gasping for air. however some are recovering so I don't wish to euthanize if they will recover. I don't know what they are dying of so all I can do is pray and keep changing the water every few hours and hope some will live through this.

So I did a thing

YOUNG copper pair - youngest I've tried so far -- successful nest! Ages 12-16 weeks but they were groovy for each other :) I'm trying out a new system of spawning in smaller areas (after watching Thai breeders' YT vids). So far it's working great! Only for experienced breeders to try tho! :-)

What I also have is a LOT of "large for their age" bettas bred from King Betta stock who will reach 3-4" or larger, but will have shorter tails with less ray spread. Some are CrownTail mix or DoubleTail mix. They are somewhat less vivid in color but great for community tanks (without fish big enough to eat them)! These can ALL go free (right now bc I have way too many) or make a donation to my "buy live worms every week" fund. :) they will get more color as they age, and more fins, but I can't guarantee how much more. When they do reach maturity in a year with finnage & colors all grown in, then they might run $10-20 each. Depends how they turn out. MOST of my young bettas are starting to show ovipositor if female or longer fins if male. On those that will stay short-finned tho I can't guarantee for 100% sure it's a male, yet. That will take 2-3 more months of development at least. Thanks for looking!

This lil sweetie girl is 1.5 yrs old, and I believe she is sterile. She was willing to breed several times, but eggs never hatched from her. He has a lovely HM tail and as you can see, lives peacefully in the juvie grow-out tank. She LOVES TO EAT and an environment with more controlled feedings than I can provide would be better for her! I could adopt her free to the right home. If you LOVE her like I do!!

I have hmmm maybe 30-50? Cambodian double tails M & F that look like this guy.

Note: don’t breed a DT to another DT. Like Manx cats, to get strong DT you have to cross with a line carrying double tail but not showing it. Otherwise, birth defects. -:/
