It’s so funny to me when people blame Cassius for all the crap that happens in Julius Caesar. You do realize that Brutus is the one that makes everything worse, right? I mean, in a nutshell:

Cassius: We need to get rid of Caesar. He is too powerful.

Brutus: Yes, we should kill him.

Cassius: ……kay….

Cassius: If we are going to kill Caesar, we better get rid of Mark Antony as well, he will turn the people against us.

Brutus: No, it will be fine.

Antony: I want to talk at Caesar’s funeral.

if you read G Wilson Knight’s essay on the homoeroticism in Julius Caesar (it’s on Google Books, go find it, it’s wonderful) there is this entire part where they’re all “DUDE BRUTUS FUCKED UP THE ENTIRE CONSPIRACY, IF IT WASN’T FOR HIM CASSIUS AND CO COULD’VE SUCCEEDED”. Brutus so desperately wants to be seen like he’s doing the honourable thing that he ends up not doing the smart thing, and that’s his tragic flaw.

also, the fact that Cassius lets him fuck up his conspiracy is like dude, dude, this is why you don’t plot murders with your crush, ok.
